Our Morning Coffee and Weather

^^^^^^ saw those warm temps across the eastern half of the country.

Here it’t a balmy 58 and I don’t know what the high is expected to be. However we may see some rain today and for that we are thankful!

Continued with some tree limbing yesterday, need to get whatever needs trimming done so I can pile the limbs and cover them with a tarp for winter burning. While working on the piles I already have I discovered two dead trees located pretty close to my burn area. That will make piling the limbs easy. Depending on the rain I’ll cut them down today after (sadly) the Seahawks lose to the Steelers this morning.

They should have kept Pete.

As Gomer Pyle said, “surprise, surprise, surprise!”. The Hawks played a great game and got the win. I picked them to lose so shame on me.

We adopted our little feline friend ten years ago this week on 9/11. Today, she's comforting me on my wedding anniversary. Annie died from cancer 8 years ago. We would have been together for fifty-eight years, married for fifty-two.

I’m with you Dave. Yesterday I wanted that bully Metcalf to start something with a Hawks player and get ejected. He did get punky but didn’t get flagged sadly.

52 and cloudy this morning after another good rain overnight. It’s been a good week for rain for us and we are grateful. Hope it got far enough to rain on the half dozen wildfires around. Not sure what the forecast is as instead of getting up way too early like the last several days today I slept in. Must have been the soothing rain.

Got a couple of dead trees cut down and up and today I’ll haul them up to the splitter and see how wet they are. Hopefully I can burn them late winter. Then more limbing for my winter outdoor burning. Nice to get some fall weather finally.

This is a Watch Duty map of the fires in the NE corner of Washington State. My place is not shown on the map but is just south of the bottom border of the picture. The fire near our property is the Blackhawk fire near the top. All these fires were caused by lightning. This cooler wetter weather is helpful but I just read a report on the Tacoma Creek fire that there has not been enough rain to help but it does make the conditions for the firefighters a little bit more comfortable. More hot temps coming later this week. Boo

She really took a bad turn overnight and we finally decided to take her in to be euthanized. She was absolutely terrified of the Vet's Office so we hated to do that. She died in Carol's lap on the way to town. We brought her home and buried her in the woods by our drive. Carol is really sad.

Thanks for sharing the story of Oreo with us, Coop. I'm sure sad isn't even close to how Carol feels. But, I think dying in the lap of someone you love and who loves you too might be about as good as it gets... whether you're a pet or a person. Peace be with you tonight, Carol.

Coop, condolences to you and Carol for the loss of Oreo. Comforting that Oreo and yourselves didn’t have to go thru the euthanize procedure. Our last dog did the same thing, the day we decided to take him to the vet he passed here at home.

Speaking of home, it’s a cool one this morning at 47. High of 80 so another warm up begins. Mid to upper 80’s the rest of the week with sunny skies. Interesting that the areas up north and to the west are socked in with fog. Makes sense as most of the fires are burning in the vicinity of Lake Roosevelt (Columbia river). Hope the additional humidity is helping the firefighters.

Had a long day limbing trees yesterday and it will be another long one doing the same today. After cutting the limbs I have to load them up in my little trailer and haul them down to the bottom of my place where I burn. Down there I pile them and will cover them with tarps for winter burning.

After one fall morning it’s back to summer with an early morning temp of 56. Beautiful crescent moon shining down on us. Back to the 80’s today with lots of sunshine. Maybe a cool down this weekend but warm again next week.

Back to the limbing project today. Everything is cut and now I have many trips with my little 4x10 Harbor Freight special trailer down to the area where I burn. This little farm trailer has sidewalls and is perfect for this work.

51 and hazy this morning and we’re looking at the mid 80’s later. No rain in sight once more . Warm temps for another couple of days then a cool down into the 70’s.

Had a good day hauling limbs to my burn area yesterday, or at least until our predicted high of 85 became 90. Had a crew over to clean the wood stove chimney at 1:00 and after they finished I just put my stuff away and stayed out of the heat. Here’s my set up for hauling limbs. I used to burn up near the house which was a lot more convenient for me but my wife got tired of all my piles in view from the house. So now I haul them down the hill at the back of the property and pile/burn there. It’s real nice in the winter when I’m burning as it’s too far for her to walk in the snow so it’s real peaceful, just me, my coffee, my radio and a nice fire.

Hard to see details in this pic but there are enough limbs here to keep me busy burning for several days.

Well, the skin cancer surgery went OK. It took about
four hours and I have a big bandage on my face. They said
they got it all.
