... Long story short but I need to pick up some garbage bins as I might have to start taking my trash to the transfer station. ...
Do tell. What's with that?

54' and sunny this morning in N.California. Maybe 88 later. Plan was for us to go out on the tri-toon, but now that is up in the air. Some mild sickness in the kids. Might be 103 at the lake so maybe not a good idea today.
Okay, since you asked  The previous trash company picked up our bins on the main road from a platform we built for this purpose. Then we were informed that due to contracted locations we had to switch to a different company. This company’s truck does not drive on the side of the road where our platform is located. The new driver asked us to place our bins in a different location. Fine! Then one of the community residents gave the driver the access code to our gate and he started driving into the community and picking up our bins at the end of our driveways. While this was very convenient trash trucks are very heavy plus the constant stop and start picking up bins was starting to damage our already very crappy roads. Several residents complained so the board of directors of the HOA (which I’m a member of) voted to forbid access to the truck. We asked the driver to pick the bins up from the location he suggested and he is refusing to do so as it’s hard to back into the main road. So as of the end of July we will most likely no longer have “curbside” service for trash. I sent a letter to the company earlier this week and I’m hoping they will come up with a solution for us but I’m not very hopeful. The driver wants us to take our bins across the 55 mph main road and place the bins on the side convenient for him. Myself and everybody else I have discussed this with are not willing to take the risk crossing that road twice a week for his convenience.

Yep a long story for sure and this is a condensed version.

Oh yeah, the weather….beautiful morning around here, 60 and sunny with a light breeze. Yesterday’s red alert for fire sadly came true. We have a pretty big (400 acres) fire burning about 45 minutes south of Spokane but thankfully in a lightly populated area. Level 3 (go now) evacuations are in place and no structures have been affected so far. Plus another level 3 evacuation fire is burning north of where Dave 77 lives. Haven’t heard an update on that one yet.

I figured there was a 'Garbage-Nazi' story there. Ours started with a new company taking over the route we're on. The previous company was elderly friendly. They didn't force the big wheelie bins on us. They allowed us to use our own smaller easier to hand carry container. The current company - nope. Claiming their automated equipment couldn't handle our containers. Which was a lie, since the original company did it just fine. Same truck just a different name painted on the door. Asked how we were supposed to get the wheelie bins to the pickup point (1/4 mile away) since us home owners don't have automated equipment to move them. They didn't care. So now the wheelie bins stay at the pickup point, we hand carry our garbage to the bins. Oh, and they have a camera mounted in the truck to record what comes out of the wheelie bin as it dumps into the truck. If they record something forbidden, you get a picture and nasty nazi-note in the mail.

53' and sunny this morning in N.California. Maybe 78' later. Tri-toon boat trip cancelled due kids illness. Otherwise we're having a good time visit.

And we need to get through tomorrow without any fireworks started fires. All fireworks are illegal here but they don't enforce it and you can buy all types at the Indian reservations. The hillsides are very dry as usual but people will be shooting off all kinds of aerials tomorrow night.

Fair, 77°F, Humidity 79%
Wind Speed S 6 mph
Barometer 29.95 in
Dewpoint 70°F
Visibility 10.00 mi
Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 96.
South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Nothing planned for today except this evening we will go into town for the
4th of July fireworks. Normally we would stay home but the VFW asked me to
participate in the opening ceremony for the fireworks, and the police department
gives us VIP parking right near the stage where it takes place. We can park there
all through the fireworks and then we're the first to get out to go home.

58 this morning with some very welcomed light rain. Sat out on the patio for a while and it sure felt like a camping morning with the nice temp and the light rain. (Yeah, if we need rain around here I go camping as it always rains on me  ). Not sure what the expected high is today as the local news hasn’t started yet but I expect a nice cool day.

Played golf yesterday for the first time in five weeks. After two weeks of Covid my energy level still isn’t back to normal and I was concerned how I would do. Walked the 18 holes (fairly flat course thankfully) and did fine. Happy to be out and active again.

Yeah, we had several fires start yesterday and last night but thankfully the responders from the various agencies got them under control quickly. I was on a golf course in east Spokane (a low income area with many “questionable” people living there) and it was constant boom pop fizzle even tho fireworks are illegal. Driving home I drove past a brush fire that one of those fools ignited and it was burning pretty good in an area of homes. According to the news no structures were damaged.
