As much as I would want dry conditions today and tomorrow we sure need the rain.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
we are setup at the NC State Fair Campground and its really hot and very humid .... given, I'm older and out of shape so I shouldn't be surprised that setting up took a lot out of me .... the actual temp at 5PM is 85 with a RealFeel of 96 .... happy to report that both of our campers 15K BTU air conditioners are working well .... they've cooled it down in here to where its very comfortable .... thunderstorms are reported in our general area but they sure aren't showing up on radar

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
It rained two inches in 45 minutes yesterday. I could see lightning then hear the thunder a half second later.

Retiree's breakfast this morning. Lots of stories (some of them true), good food, plenty of coffee. Headed for the 90's today. This old phart will be spending it inside.

Was camping in the mountains in a teepee once. Storm moved through late one night and a couple of times heard the thunder almost immediately after the flash, could also hear a crackling sound when the lightning struck, was kind of scary. Did not see any signs of the hits the next morning though.

Hey Mags, home safe and sound. Had an uneventful trip weather wise and made a successful transaction on the boat deal. I’ll make a report elsewhere with some pics. It’s been several years since I’ve been west of Biggs Junction and I’d forgotten just how beautiful it is transitioning from the scab rock to the mountains and forests around The Dalles area.Mags wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 1:14 pmHope you got home safe. 42 and sunny here today but rain is expected to move in later this evening. That’s too bad as tonight is the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade. It’s a big deal well attended by thousands who may get a light rain on them. Nothing super heavy thankfully. Rainy again tomorrow then a nice but cool week ahead.
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
I has been hot and rainy last couple days. Thursday very windy with multiple power outages. Yesterday afternoon we had a dust storm. Never seen one. Weather report says Chicago, Indiana and Michigan. Sun disappeared for a bit then was hazy and was windy all night with more thunderstorms. Strange weather.
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
My son came over from Idaho the same day you were headed to Vancouver. He said the wind and rain between Boardman and the Dalles was treacherous. Said trucks were waiting out the wind in the rest areas. Thinking that can't be good towing a boat either.
52' and cloudy. Very heavy rain overnight. Maybe 63' later. No rain expected rest of the day.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
daylight broke this morning under a heavy storm cloud cover with rumbles of thunder rolling in the distance .... the ladies and part of the kids walked over to the Got To Be NC Festival where they only experienced a few sprinkles .... the clouds have cleared and clear blue sky can be seen in every direction .... 82 very humid degrees (RealFeel of 93) at 2PM .... they say that the temp will only rise 1 more degree before dropping back to an overnight low of 62 .... they also say to expect afternoon showers but looking at the weather radar that don't seem likely

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Yeah the winds were bad on the trip over and I did get pushed around a bit. Really affected my gas consumption too. Last year I drove from Deer Park to Biggs towing the jeep and made it with a quarter tank remaining. This trip pulling the boat (lighter than the jeep but more mass) I made it to Biggs with 15 miles to empty on the dash readout.Mags wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2025 12:00 pmMy son came over from Idaho the same day you were headed to Vancouver. 47 today but it’s dark and gloomy out there. Looks like the skies are ready to dump any minute but dry so far. More rain again tomorrow then some promise of sunny days.
Helping my son with some fencing today.

I had to bring my hanging baskets inside because of a frost warning tonight. Glad I only did 12 of the 36.
