Ya they are making way too big a deal out of this thing. Everybody needs to relax. It sure doesn't take much for people to lose their minds.

Just seen on the news about people price gouging on the virus soaps. Gotta love the media and people wanting to pray off of the hype. What that comedian say what a country.

I am a little worried because I have two appointments at a VA hospital on Monday. As with all hospitals, it is a great place to get infected with something. Because of under lining health issues, I am at a higher risk of catching just about anything. As with the three VA hospitals I am familiar with, they are ,for the main part, geriatric treatment centers with high traffic. Not conducive to stay healthy for anyone. The only precautions I will do are the same ones I usually take. Sanitizers after contact with any hard surfaces and no physical contact with any non medical staff. And hope. :|
I hope it all works out well for you sir! I have a customer who needs his humidifier fixed in his house, he just returned from a trip, and his trips are always either to Italy or China. Needless to say I am putting him off for a couple of weeks (just to make sure ;) )

On the evening new, here, there has been one confirmed case in Williamson Co., South of Nashville. He has self-quarantined himself.

Would be nice to think everyone would do the same. Kudos to him!

I know I said I wouldn't participate in this thread, but I'll make an exception:
Quarantine (self or otherwise) only works one of 2 ways. People cooperate; or the govt eventually enforces it with razor wire and guns. Pick one.

My view.... This virus so far likes to infect the lungs...doesn't seem to be affecting kids as much due to their stronger immune system and is more serious in older adults like over 60.
They are working on a vaccine which might be a year out but if the virus mutates like the flu does every year it could be a hit or miss as to how well
it works.
People are in a panic now but what about if it spreads around like the common cold? From what I see to prevent yourself from catching it you will have to be on guard about every thing you touch in public and not to touch your face, eyes without washing your hands.
This will have to go on for rest of your life if you are in the older age group. Doesn't take much lung complications to take you away!

I'm 67 and have COPD so I'm a little concerned but I'm not going to become a hermit. I've always had good luck with not getting the flu even though I do get colds every year. I get my flu shot shot every year, have had the pneumonia vaccine and will get any other vaccines they come out with and hope for the best.

Never had a flu shot, and don't get sick much. And if I do, chores get done regardless. If the symptoms of this thing are cough, cold and fever, not sure how you tell it from any other cough, cold or fever so chores will get done regardless... :)

I get a flu shot every year (the higher dose for seniors). A couple of months ago, I got the latest pneumococcal vaccine since it's been five years since I had the last one. I got a tetanus shot at the same time.

I'll be careful about avoiding contact with the Covid-19 virus, too. I'm already pretty much of a recluse, so it won't actually change much of what I do.

Same here - I can't remember the last time I had even the 'sniffles' or anything viral/bacterial related.

I live very healthy, am careful about cleanliness and I believe living rurally and in a non-congested environment helps as well.

Very true. Not all of us are that lucky though. I figure, if things get really bad, from whatever, we'll just retreat to the cabin. Would have to winterize it though for the Winter.

I have never had a flu shot and only got the flu once back in 1986 I believe. Back then our son was in preschool so all kinds of stuff
was coming home.
This morning I had to stop by the local credit union drive-thru while out picking up a few things and made sure no face touching until I got home
and washed hands! Should also clean the car steering wheel and anything else normally touched everyday.

So far haven't "heard" of any coronavirus in our area but we do have a large military base just couple miles down the road.

Nearly 4,000 new cases reported in the last 24 hrs. And nearly half of the worlds countries and territories have been affected, although several have only had one case. Of the 99 affected countries, only 4 small countries have no active cases at this time. The USA is in the top 10 for Active cases.
