The Walgreen's nearest to me gets ten doses at a time with no regular schedule and no advance notification of delivery. They also do not keep a waiting list; first come, first served. Now that I'm ready for the second dose, I have to call every day to check the inventory. Called for the first time yesterday; none available.

It may be that your Walgreen's is similar, but that the demand for it is not as high as it is here, so their inventory increases with each new shipment.

The retail price is $181.99 per dose. My secondary insurance (which is awesome) covers the entire cost. No co-pay.

Don't understand, was in my local Walgreens today and they said they have plenty.

Maybe we get more around here because statistics show, we have about 65% retired folk. Least that's what the figure used to be.
Not to mention we have three major hospitals in the area, if that means anything. Lots and lots of medical facilities and professional buildings which might bring more drug reps, more often.

Her cancer treatments cost tens of thousands of dollars per month for each of the three years before she passed away. Our co-pay was never more than $20 for those incredibly expensive drugs. And, that's just one reason why I'm in favor of full and complete medical coverage for all U.S. citizens, not just "lucky" retirees, like me.

I have very good supplemental insurance through the state for retired state employees, although it does cost me $300 a month in addition to my Medicare premium. I hate to think what my monthly prescriptions would cost without it, just my 2 insulin prescriptions would be over $3000 instead of a $20 co-pay. I've heard that compared to Canada prices, insulin is 6 times more expensive here.

My local Walgreens got 10 doses of Shingrix yesterday. This morning, there were six left. I got my second (and final) injection ten minutes after they opened, leaving them with five; half of their latest shipment gone in less than two days.

I had shingles in 2008 on the left side of my face. Although I didn’t have a bad case, it was still no fun.

Every time I go to my doctor, he tells me to get the vaccine, but he’s “just run out”, sometimes giving it to the patient ahead of me. Of course my visit is no surprise since my appt is made 6-7 mos in advance.

My wife even works for the company making Shingrix (as does his wife since she reports to my wife), but that does make access to it any easier.

Anyway, I hope you and Buster feel better soon.

You inspired me. I stopped at the local Walgreens and lucked out. The pharmacist said they got in 40 doses this week and he still had some. I just got my first Shingrix and my flu shot for this year.

a couple of hours ago my wife called a different Walgreens (one actually closer to our home) .... she was told they have plenty on hand .... first thing in the morning we go for our first shingles shot and a flu shot

as noted above, in calling around we found that the normal Walgreens we use has such a long waiting list that they aren't adding any more names to it .... yesterday by calling another Walgreens that is actually closer to our home, we were told to come on in .... this morning we did and ended up with the first shingles shot in one arm and a flu shot in the other .... we have to go back in two months to get the second shingles shot .... its my understanding that the new shot is designed for folks age 65 and older ....

I received my second dose of Shingrix last Friday morning; sixty days from the first, exactly. Unlike the first shot, which only resulted in a very sore arm for a few days, the second shot left me not only with a sore arm, but a nagging sinus headache as well (I have not had a headache like that in decades) and a flu-like congestion that lasted for two days. I'm now several days out after the second dose and my arm is still a bit sore, though only slightly so. It's better than dealing with Shingles.

I declined the flu shot until next month.

Wife and I got the Shingrix at the same time. After a while her arm really hurt. So bad she couldn't sleep on it. I felt like I had just little bruise spot, but the next day I generally felt lousy. Too soon here for flu shots. They won't last through the flu season here if we get them now. We'll get them first part of November.

as an FYI, 12 hrs after having the new Shingles and this year's Flue shot, I can sure tell a difference .... Flu shot in right arm, no problem .... SHINGRIX shot in left is a very different matter .... the soreness reminds me of the reaction of the early flu shots .... arm sore ... general queasiness but nothing significant

We were told at the first shot that they would send us a reminder when it was time for the 2nd, but couldn't guarantee they'd actually have it available. Ours doesn't do a awaiting list nor take reservations. Strictly a walk-in first come basis. When we checked with Costco, they would put us on a call list for when they had inventory, but other than that they too here are strictly a walk-in first come basis.
