Re: Christmas 2018
Haven't figured it out yet. I'll probably go to Oklahoma sometime but don't know if it will be before New Year's or not. More than likely will be having a quiet day at home.

Re: Christmas 2018
Christmas is rapidly approaching .... tooooo rapidly .... hope your plans are coming together .... in spite of the weather, our preparations for the camper and for the family gathering are proceeding .... finding a semi warm day without rain in the forecast isn't proving to be easy .... our camper so badly needs a good washing that I don't much care if it rains or not .... our target is Friday which has a 60% chance of rain .... the ladies are working up the menu and I'm enjoying wrapping gifts for the grandkids

Ohhh. LEGO underfoot is bad news! My dogs leave their chewed up antler bits around the house and when you step on one of those in the dark, it’s an experience you’d prefer to avoid!

Worse.... Those right angle clips from those erector sets I had, still have, as a kid. They draw blood.

Re: Christmas 2018
I'm hoping for a quiet Christmas at home. Life may have other plans. My partner Mary's family has a tradition I call the twelve days of (their last name). They go to all four family in town homes and by the end of the 12 days, the conversation is a bit thin. I have resigned myself to my fate. Last year we hosted Christmas Eve and I rose to the occasion. This year, I will be making a somewhat traditional Italian dinner (I'm not) for my daughters family. For us, I just wanted a Christmas Eve seafood meal and Christmas day of relaxation and no travel.
It's not all bad, I've gotten myself some new camera lenses for my DSLR. I'm just not into the spirit at the moment. I listen to Manhiem Steam Roller Christmas music and a few other instrumentals.
I hope you all enjoy your time, whatever you do.

Re: Christmas 2018
During my long careers in uniform, i was rarely home for Christmas. As a young Marine I usually took that duty weekend so those who lived far away could fly home, or we were deployed somewhere far away. Once I was married, we were often deployed, and worked around that fact. After i got out of the Corps, my uniformed service put me in essential 24/7 jobs and often as not... Working Christmas.
These days we stay at home, enjoy the quiet, and one another's company.

Re: Christmas 2018
I worked every Thanksgiving and Christmas by choice allowing the other officers to have that time off. Tina and i worked around my shifts with the kids to spend time on those days. In return i was guaranteed a week over 4th of July for vacation every year. We went to an alcohol free county event at the river each year and spent the day, with fireworks after dark. There were all kinds of things in the field along the riverbank...
Live bands
Several huge grills going
Kids games / face painting
Cheap goodies for the kids... Frisbies, glow sticks, etc
Friends galore...
Swimming, fishing, etc
Great day

Re: Christmas 2018
just got word that some friends are having a pre-Christmas shoot tomorrow ... during the years we spent having a family Christmas in Kentucky while one of our sons was doing his residency in St Louis, a Christmas Eve shoot became a tradition .... we hope that we can develop such a yearly gathering into a tradition around here ....
