Let's not forget Quigley Down Under. And as RR included, Hostiles is one of my favorites too.
I've seen Quigley all the way through or just stopped to scroll and watch a scene so many times it's silly. It's among the best good vs bad westerns ever. Also loved the Hostiles and The Hateful Eight. The Revenant was awesome, too. Another excellent modern western movie is The Edge with Anthony Hopkins... "Did you know that you can make fire from ice?

Open Range.
Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner with a great supporting cast.
We have watched it several times.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Landman. Not a true western, but Texas based and lots of hats and boots. Awesome series.
I'd love to see this. Prime only offers the first three episodes. Eventually, I'll get to see it.
It’s really well written. You can just do the 7 day free trial of Paramount+ and watched two per night, the cancel after 7 days. We don’t pay for cable so rotate two streaming services at a time. Watch all the good stuff on one, then go to the next one.

Do a search for Vseebox. You can buy them on Amazon.
We have one and it allows us to watch almost any cable channel. Just buy the box, hook it up, and you can view almost everything. In addition to providing access to most premium channel content, it also gives you access to local channels from cities across the country, which means you can watch a sports event that is blacked out in your area by finding it on a different channel from a different area. I've still maintained my Netflix account, which I can access through it too.
I'm not sure how this can all be 100% legit, but it's freely available on many on-line vendors, has been for years, and can be purchased for the cost of two or three months oc cable bills.

Thanks for the tip. I read a bit about it this morning. It seems to be an android device using apps to deliver the content. I suspect the device is legit, but the apps are likely illegal; sounds too good to be true. I'll keep my eye on it from the sidelines for awhile.

Ours has been working fine for over a year now, and that is after a few younger people at work had them for about that long before I decided to get ours. These are the younger tech-savvy kids, previously using firesticks that they jail-break and such. I steered clear of those, but this Vseebox is available commercially, fully supported, and they even have a warehouse located in Chino Hills, California.

You'll still need high speed internet access, but if you've been wanting to "cut the cord" with all the cable bills, this could be it. It was for us.

About VseeBox from Google
VseeBox itself is legal in the U.S., as it's just a streaming device, but it becomes illegal if used to stream copyrighted content from unauthorized sources, violating copyright law. The box's legality hinges on how you use it: legal if used for legitimate, licensed services (like Netflix, Hulu) or free, public domain content, but illegal if used for pirated movies, shows, or paid channels without a subscription.

How The West Was Won was filmed with three cameras for a projection system called Cinerama that was technically innovative and somewhat successful for a while, but didn't survive. However, the three films used for this production have been exquisitely, digitally restored and flattened into a widescreen movie that is one of my favorites. It is romanticized and dramatized and stereotyped but, nonetheless, it is also an epic film.

Most folks don't know that all of the shooting in WINCHESTER 73 was done Herb Parson with a Winchester 71 .348 I owned a 71 for many years.

We have been watching Wyatt Earp lately. We finished Rifleman. I like Earp a little better. Hopalone Cassidy was not bad. But, the Duke Classics (John Wayne) have been the best so far. We tried Have Gun Will Travel. But, my was not crazy about the lead actor having a different woman friend in almost every episodes. So, we have been sticking with Earp.

I recently stumbled across an old tv series from the late 80's that I've never seen before. The Young Riders.
I am about through the first season and am really enjoying it.
It's about some orphans and the Pony express. Clean, no vowel language,

Thanks for the heads up on this one. Amazon Prime has three seasons of it available. Looking forward to it.
