The Heritage guns are decent shooters - don't have any real complaints about that. I don't like that weird safety they have tho, and I prefer a 2" DA/SA without a safety for getting off a fast couple shots on something that might bite me. The only reasonably priced revolver in that category that I've found on-line is the Taurus 942 .22wmr. Hopefully one will show up at a local shop, since I don't like to buy on-line.Vaquero wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:03 amHey Gene, I have that same little pistola, but I've never tried the shot shell in it.
Right here we also have the Copperheads and Cottonmouths, down around the river a little east of here there are rattle snakes.
Never seen any close around here at the house.

I agree on the ugly safety, mine stays in the ready position.
I may flip it back and forth while cleaning or wiping it down, but
always put the safety off and just treat it like any of the other SA revolvers.

I've thought about doing that, but it's still there and something else I'd have to remember. I have too many oddball safeties, as it is, on other guns I have. I don't have room in my brain for any more.

From pictures, I don't think it is all that ugly. Maybe I'd think differently seeing one in hand. I do think for a safety on a revolver, it looks like a good way to do it. Small lever that looks easy to toggle with the thumb used right handed.

I just bought a Heritage .22. I pick it up this afternoon. I can send in a coupon to get the .22 WMR cylinder.

I'm pretty sure, you'll like that gun, Mags. I had a Heritage Rough Rider several years ago. It is super fun gun to shoot and it's light to carry. I liked it a lot and shot it often, but it isn't a full sized SAA replica, which is what I really wanted, so a few years later, when I bought my Uberti Cattleman 22LR, I gave the HRR to my brother. He still has it and loves it. In 2015, Heritage Rough Rider's didn't have a safety, but it did have a coupon for the WMR cylinder (I didn't claim it).
I've never had a need for shot shells, though, so this and other discussions about snake defense are interesting.
There are Copperheads in CT, but they're rarely seen. I've only ever seen one. Rattlesnakes live in the mountainous cliffs, but again, they're rarely seen (I've never seen one) and they are a protected species, anyway. Snake bites are very rare here.

Don't have any pistol shot shells but do keep my 20 ga. Shockwave handy with bird shot when around my range areas.

Picked it up this afternoon. It is a good looking revolver. More later in it's own topic.
