Tick Bites in Wisconsin

Having lived with my wife who suffers from Lyme Disease, I can tell you that it is not just some aches and pains or you don't take a few antibiotics and it's gone. If it is caught very early one might have a chance and certain ones of us have immune systems that can keep it from developing. When this is not the case you can be doomed to suffer the rest of your life and have mental deterioration just like that which finished off big Al Capone. So don't mess around with tick bites.Look at Pres. Bush the younger the way he talked as Preident and then watch him when he was the big boss in Texas. That is before and after Lyme.

I'm a firm believer in the Sawyers spray which contains Permathrin. Must be some really nasty stuff. I've watched deer ticks crawling up a treated pant leg and after a few inches they fall off....dead. Hunting pants, coat and boots all get sprayed down. Don't inhale the stuff and make sure clothing is dry before you wear it. I wouldn't even consider early season Xbow deer hunting with untreated clothing.

Spring and fall are the worst part of the year for ticks in this part of Wisconsin. I've gone out in the mornings when there was ice on the puddles and then by midday temps were back up in the 40's. A short walk through some grassy area and bingo...deer ticks crawling. But that Permathrin does shut them down quickly.

Im like yosemite Sam from the cartoons... i HATES ticks.... there are billions of the hellish little demons in south missouri.... mainly they try to swarm all over ya when you are out and about from april to october... though i have got one or two on me as early as february, and you find some on deer when ya shoot um in november... i loath all sizes of them, but i especially despise the seed ticks that show up in july... if you get in a batch of those fellons you might find 500 of them crawling on yaat one time from brushing against the wrong bush... death to all ticks... to hell with that live and let live crap when it comes to them.... thats my feelings on ticks.....

Sawyers is #1 used by folks in our area for ticks. I wish some body made a spray that worked for copper heads and rattlers.

We have a black fly problem around here that rises and falls from year to year. A few years ago school kids were getting swarmed while outside and getting bit. My wife seems to be a real attraction to them and just had her first bite of the year on her scalp. She gets bites every year and I have never been bit. Lucky me as the bites are very painful.
