I could fit right in ... if I were forty years younger. Okay, more like 50.

Ya, speedy guitar licks & arthritic hands are a challenge, but we just keep on keeping on...

Re: I have a secret music passion
One of may favorite Texans and blues guitarists was Pete Mays. Pete played locally and a club out in the middle of nowhere between Winnie and Port Arthur. Not too many know about Pete. He had a rough life later in years losing both legs to diabetes. Maybe I'll do a Traces thread about him some time. I like it a bit slower, smoother, and soulful.

Just noticed Tom Verlaine (1949-2023) passed last Sataurday! I don't know how I missed that. He was that bridge between jazz, grunge, and funk. Either you like it or you don't for sure. Here's a like to "LIttle Johnny Jewel" from the Television (The Blow-Up) album:

Another Dick Dale tune is "Miserlou". Youtube has it, I'm sure.
And NCG, that surprised the heck out of me. Well done gal!

Re: I have a secret music passion
I had said I mostly only cared for classic rock, I did a search for Pete Mays and while I liked it and some blues there was link there to my secret music passion which is swing, it's not something I would often listen to by it's self but I can spend a lot of time watching it being danced to by really skilled dancers. Maybe I like it because I would love to have been able to dance like that but was way too uncoordinated, same with playing guitar, tried but knew I would never be very good.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 8:35 amOne of may favorite Texans and blues guitarists was Pete Mays. Here's the link I saw and a couple more of Nils and Bianca, my favorites, I usually mostly concentrate on the women dancers but Nils has such great foot work I find myself watching him as much as Bianca. North Country Gal might like them, a couple have what I think is some pretty good harmonica (second one might actually be trumpet).

Re: I have a secret music passion
Thanks, Tom
Dave, thanks for the links. I'm a big fan of swing. It was the rock music of its day, pioneered by Benny Goodman on this side of the pond and Django Reinhardt with his gypsy swing in France and, yeah, I play both on the harmonica.

Hey All,
I'm thinking maybe I should take up the accordion or the trombone - you know - so I can play that Rock an roll!!!

Actually I'm too old but I do like off the wall stuff like this - especially the chicken accompaniment. Austrian I believe.
I too have a couple gretsches a tele a martin an a few other guitars. An then there are those 9 I think harmonicas. Special 20s an a golden melody.
Really enjoy them all.

Re: I have a secret music passion
Accordion would work but Banjo, spoons or Mandolin would be better than a trombone.
