This is a pic of a bike like my bike same color an all. It is my revenge bike. 1973 Suzuki 185GT two stroke twin street bike. It is unique like the others in 73 as it has a drum not disc brake up front making it fairly rare. Mine is unrestored but totally complete. It sits next to my 1990 Cummins diesel 3/4 ton manual transmission pickup. Both are restoration projects.

Why is it a revenge bike? Well I had a 66 mustang that I had had for near 15 years and one day within a few months of getting married a guy comes to the front door an asks if I want to sell it. My wife goes sell it what are you going to do with it? In a moment of extreme weakness I sold it to him. Instant well a day later seller regret... Anyway we were living in a rented house an when we rented it the owner asked me if it was ok to store a bike in the garage an I said fine. When we went to move I told him his bike was fine and he said oh yeah that bike followed by you want it? I didn't even know what it was at the time an he goes you can have for what I paid an I said how much an he said it's yours. Turns out his best friend in CA got married an gave the bike to my landlord years earlier and so he got it free - no paper or title was ever transferred. So I got it free and then went through the abandoned bike stuff and got a title. My wife says now what are go gonna do with that an I said keep restore and ride it an she says you should sell it an I told her I listened to you on my mustang I ain't listening again. I've hauled that bike around through every move we've made over the last 30 years. I did get it running 25 years ago - very peppy bike but haven't ridden it since. I will restore it when fully retired.

Great story Ed. Hope you get it looking like the one in the pic someday. I just love the look of the classic bikes from the 70’s. Me and my buddies all had Yamaha Enduro’s back then and had lots of places to ride off-road. My neighbor is a motorcycle fanatic and has a shop full of vintage bikes that he races in vintage races all over. I’m going to come back and post a picture he sent me from a race last summer.

I've hung up my helmet, but I used to ride Harley Davidson Sportsters, with Straight Pipes to boot.

Part of the reason I have hearing problems today.

I've heard Harleys are safer than other bikes because even though people may not see them the definitely hear them.

It's true. The way I felt about it anyway. Especially when I was in someone's blind spot. I felt pretty confident that they knew I was there.

My Straight Pipes also helped me in other ways as well. I believe I once told my story about the German Shepard in middle of the road, telling me that there was no way I was going by.

Bought my first when I was 14 with my own money, CL 100. Had a few between then and now. Now is is a '99 Road King.
