Today Trey got to experience his first snow other than the dusting we got the other day. 4” of wet heavy snow and a 4 month old pup, what could be better. 30 second video, pretty funny.

Well, I’m having trouble attaching a video using my Ipad, I’ll give it a try later with my laptop.

Yesterday Trey had his first trip to the groomers. He got a bath, feet and ears trimmed and nails clipped. According to the groomer he was very well behaved. Hmmmmmm house devil street angel perhaps. Note he’s sporting his Christmas necktie.

Man, you're killing me. I really would like a pup bit we've both decided not to have another dog.
It was so hard when we lost the last one and I really don't want to repeat that.

Coop, I think you are about 15 years older than I am and this little guy is wearing us out. I told my wife that this is it, no more puppies for me. Now with the normal lifespan of Golden Retrievers of 10-15 years that works. Hopefully Trey will remain healthy and strong and life a nice long life.

years ago when our last dog died we decided to not have another until the time comes that we stop traveling in our camper .... we don't want to have to worry about shortening or missing something like visiting the Alamo because we need to take a dog out .... also, I must admit I have no interest having to take a dog for a walk on rainy, hot, or cold days

Trey loves to go hiking on the trail I cut in earlier this fall. Note his ears of your screen is large enough. They are standing up like a rabbits as he is in full gallop. I should have waited to take the shot just a little bit longer. I haven’t measured the trail yet but it’s probably a third of a mile or so. Good elevation changes first down then back up so it’s a good workout for both of us. For every 100 ft I walk he probably covers 1000.

Trey had a vet visit yesterday which gave us a chance to weigh him. I estimated he would be in the mid 40’s and he is a whopping 58 lbs. His vet told us he in not overweight and is looking very fit. Hard to believe this little bundle of fuzz at 8 lbs. on September 12th is now 58 lbs. of very strong muscle. We have had the good fortune of giving him lots of exercise with extended hikes.

Here he is when we got him home back in September.

Like Coach’s Dug last week yesterday my pup had his neuter done. Last night he was a real sad sack still dopey from the anesthesia. Here he was just home from the vet. Today’s he’s active and wants to get out and romp but he is supposed to take it easy for 3-4 days. That’s going to be hard for him (and us).

Boy's actually have it pretty easy compared to girls. When I had Callie (cat) spayed I showed the vet a video of her and Leroy (another cat) wrestling and he said they were so intense (just playing but serious play) that they would have to be separated for 2 weeks or she would pull her stitches. They took turns being shut in the bedroom. Maggie, my older female would sometimes keep the one in the bedroom company, she won't put up with wrestling from either one of them. She was quite happy when I got Callie since Leroy couldn't resist trying to wrestle with her every so often, she would put him in his place quite quickly.

That’s a great pic Dave, what a size difference. As I understand it with nurturing all the stitches are internal whereas with spaying the stitches are external requiring more care. Trey is doing fine and wants to get out and do something other than just wandering around the yard. I know if I take him for a hike he will run and jump and be stupid so he will just have to wait.

Trey sure is a fine looking dog. Thank you for sharing his development.
I have always told myself, if I got another dog, it would be a Golden.
BTW...don't know about you, , but HatchDOG was beautiful!!

They're a lot closer in size now. Leroy is a little bigger and is a stocky cat, Callie is more slender. They were wrestling and chasing each other within a few days of getting her. Maggie wanted nothing to do with her. It was kind of funny, Callie was determined that they were going to be friends, took several weeks of Callie being persistent and one day Maggie just decided OK, I guess I like you. Now they cuddle together all the time.

Callie's stitches were internal, as in they didn't show or have to be removed but you would have to see the video to see how intense their wrestling matches are. Just playing, no claws or teeth involved. Callie's favorite trick is to walk away like she's done, get a few feet away and then turn and leap on Leroy.
