Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
O yes, I remember as a child being threated with Ludefisk, as my father was from Minnesota. I must have been good, as it was never served.

Darn good thing, as I personally see no reason to eat such things.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Have only heard a few talking about it.
Morning, was 42° when I left the house. I've heard a couple shots, but haven't seen a thing this morning.
I did snag a fat doe for my friend yesterday, late evening just before dark. Probably 135-140 yds., got it with another friend's model 99. She ran probably 90ish so yards.
Straight through the front and out just in front of the hindquarters. 300 Sav. 150gr Speer hot cor ove some 748.
Back at it again with yet another old cal., 38-55.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Mostly Cloudy, 30°F, Humidity 86%
Wind Speed SE 3 mph
Barometer 30.35 in
Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.
Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.
A chance of rain and flurries.
Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Not much on tap today until tonight. Then our son in laws Father wants to take all of
us to dinner at our favorite place, The Ranchero. I asked Carol what the occasion was and
she acted kinda suspicious. It finally dawned on me that it's a birthday party which I always
say, "Please don't". She finally admitted that she and the son in law conspired to surprise me.
I do public speaking with no qualms but I don't like the feeling of being the center of attention.
Oh well, happy wife, happy life and it is a free prime rib.

48 damp degrees that make it seem to be much cooler .... currently up to 51 with rain forecasted to begin in less than an hour .... 57 predicted to be today's high .... no plans to so much as crank a vehicle today but that's open to change at any moment .... coffee flowing while watching Veteran's Day related movies, mostly from Turner Classic Movies channel

my wife has told me about it .... historically a Norwegian/Scandinavian concoction, some consider to be a delicacy

Headed to a granddaughter’s 4th grade basketball game. Getting ready for a doctor’s appointment in the big city on Monday. Have a lot traveling planned for the next week, my poor wife has to do all the driving. I can’t even help her out.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
At one point in my life I was engaged to marry a Norwegian Nurse with three children. A really nice lady, but in the end we found we just were not compatible. I was really sad about that, but she did have a family that liked Lutefisk and I did attend family dinners where it was served. In fact I almost stepped in a pail in her garage where some was soaking.JEBar wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 10:04 ammy wife has told me about it .... historically a Norwegian/Scandinavian concoction, some consider to be a delicacy"prepared by soaking dried cod in lye to tenderize it, then skinning, boning, and boiling the fish to a gelatinous consistency" .... she's seen, smelled and tasted it ONCE .... she says she has no desire to ever do so again ...
I call it "fish Jell-O". I like spicy food and they did not. Not even salt and pepper on the dining table.
We split and a couple of years later I met Carol and got married at the age of 55. No regrets but I do wish that lady well.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
It was a misty 56° this morning on the dog walk. We've got rain in the forecast through Monday evening with Monday being the worst of it, so they say. I cooked up some toast and oatmeal along with my coffee this morning. I've got a bit of work to be done.

Congrats Vaquero, you sure are piling up the venison.
37 this morning and very damp after some overnight rain. Big winds expected around mid-day and here at 8:30 the trees are starting to sway a bit. No burning today as my neighbors seem to like their house so I won’t burn it down.
High around 45 later.
Probably just stay indoors and watch some football. My WSU Cougars have lost five games in a row after winning their first four. Today’s game against Cal is a toss up as neither team is doing well. Might be hard to watch.
Last night the Gonzaga Men’s basketball team had their first game against Yale who is considered a very good team and the projected winner of the Ivy League this season. Gonzaga started out slow trailing by 10 but picked it up and pretty much dominated the game after that. Fun watch.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Had our first taste of summer yesterday, 88 at 10am and topped out just over 100. Thunder storm late afternoon cooled things down.
Currently mid 60's at 4.30am, hard to believe the 1st of the month temp dropped below freezing and we had a frost.

Funny, my grandfather who was Danish or maybe Norwegian salted everything, he said he always salted his food before he tasted it and then added more if needed (I think I inherited that from him, I do like my salt).cooperhawk wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 10:27 am

Don't remember about other spicy foods, too long ago, he passed in his 90's and I think I was in the 3rd grade.
I think I may have posted this photo before, it shows how much older than me he was. Check out the new car in the background.

Good pic of the sights vaquero.
32 this morning with either upper fog or an overcast. Saw stars at bedtime last night so it’s probably fog. We got the predicted wind storm yesterday so today I’ll take a break from burning and rake and mow pine needles, it’s almost a carpet of needles out there.
Not sure what the high is supposed to be but the local news starts here in a minute so I’ll soon know. Regardless it will be fine for raking.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
60°this morning and a bit foggy. It seems to be getting a bit cooler instead of warmer this morning. The high is supposed to reach 66° with thunderstorms moving in early evening. I just had cereal and coffee this morning.
