Our Morning Coffee and Weather

We just have a winter storm advisory here for 1-4 inches of snow followed by some arctic air for a couple of days. As mentioned above I too am looking forward to complaining about the heat. It’s 35 now and 37 for the high with the cold and snow arriving this afternoon.

Other than shoveling and plowing the next couple of days will be indoor days.

How’d you do with that? We had 2.5” in our forecast for the afternoon and overnight but got 8” in the ristorante 3 hours. I’m not impressed… Lots of plowing for me this morning.

Around mid afternoon we started getting weather alert alarms going off telling us of an approaching “snow squall”. Lived here 66 years and have never heard of a snow squall before. Sure, plenty of storm squalls but I thought that was more of an ocean term. Anyway, we probably got around 4” of snow but with the wind the drifting is pretty severe so it’s hard to tell the exact amount. So like you, I’ll be out shoveling, blowing and plowing today. I haven’t had the plow or blower out for several weeks. The “snow squall” was interesting but I’ve been in a lot of more severe snowstorms here locally with big winds and drifting.

66 this morning heading to at least 80. Going to be windy. Hoping to shoot a couple .22 handguns today but may depend on how windy it becomes.

Windy here also. The wind is pretty much a steady 12-15 mph out of the Gulf. It's been overcast all morning. It's supposed to get up into the 80's again this afternoon. I went to the dermatologist and rode the Harley there. All is fine. On the way back I pulled into the driveway at the same time a rain shower started. I timed it just right!
I just had cereal, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Most of the schools in state are closed, both interstates are closed, nothing movie, couple of grandkids came over for the day. Pancakes for lunch (Ash Wednesday). So it looks like movies and Monopoly today. Everyone have a great day!

It's -3F tonight and we got about a foot of snow, still snowing a little but supposed to taper off overnight. By the weekend the winds pick up and it gets up to 35F again. So this weekend I'll be back to clearing the drifts of snow and get ready for the next one.

Maybe you need a plow for that Jeep

I don't know about the newer jeeps but the older ones really didn't have a strong enough front end for serious plowing. Our school maintenance dept. found out that even ½ ton pickups weren't good for the plowing they did, they broke the frame on one. After that they only used ¾ tons for plowing.

I am NOT turning on the AC tomorrow 84 degrees or not! Stuff is starting to bloom around here and trees are budding out. Wonder what March will be like??

I must be getting old, because the constant need for the media to come up with new names for old weather just to make people afraid is starting to piss me off

It used to be “heavy rain”, but noooo. That’s not exciting enough. Now it’s an “atmospheric river”! FFS.

I ran the little tractor for a while, and driveway to the shop I just packed with the truck. Might have a bucket truck driving across the grass to get to my shop to connect power soon, so left the snow to protect the lawn. It’s supposed to only get down to about -10 metric which is 14 F. Your windchill warning says -25 F in CDA / Post Falls.

65 this morning heading to 80 nice and sunny. Building a 36x14 carport off garage.

Only 69 degrees an hour ago and headed to low 80’s. Windy again but not as strong as yesterday.

I'll take what ever comes, sooner rather than later, we'll all be complaining about something else. And as long as I can sit in the sun when it's cool, and the shade when it's not, I'm a happy man!

we awoke to a beautiful 65 degree morning in central NC .... its already up to 72 on its way to 81 this afternoon with 20% chance of rain .... contrast that with it being -1 right now in Estelline, SD where we spend our summers .... 12 - 18 inches of snow with a .... predicted high today 5 with a Real Feel of -16 .... low there tonight -9 with a Real Feel of -26 .... nothing much on our schedule for today, hauling off the trash and recycling is all I know of right now

Currently 5 with a wind chill of -18. Just went out with the dog and even he was in a hurry to get back inside. High today should be 17 with sunny skies but unfortunately the winds will continue thru tomorrow. Might see more snow on Sunday and the extended outlook is for going back to a more normal weather pattern with more snow or rain. It’s been pretty dry around here for several weeks.

With these temps I feel like I woke up in Wisconsin/Minnesota/South Dakota/Alberta. All those reports from the Carolinas and other parts are making me envious. Enjoy those temps, we’ll see them one of these days.

66 here this am and some early morning fog. Its now burning off and will be in the 70's today. Headed out this afternoon to bust some clays at the local gun range. Trigger time is always a good time.

Westside rural. We weren't supposed to get snow accumulation. Under the trees here we have about 3 inches. In the clear 9 inches. Further east in Portland, news says they got 10.8 inches. Portland declared state of emergency. All roads and freeways there are closed. Current temp 25'. Predicted tonight 16' and tomorrow night 12'

Coffee, blueberry muffins, hashbrowns and eggs.

Couple of white tail strolled past the living room window this morning. We often see as many as 6 at a time.

My cat-sitter called and said my house received about 18” which means the top of the hill has 4 feet. She couldn’t make it up the hill and even the neighbor with a snow plow couldn’t make it. Tomorrow another neighbor is bringing his skid steer up to scoop it away. This 75 degree weather in Texas is nice but I would rather be home right now.

Hope your cat has enough food and water but I'm sure she won't starve from missing one day. Although she might be mad at you for not being home to take care of her properly. Glad you seem to have much better neighbors than you had in WA.

As I look at the weather back home, I know why we snowbird. Been well below zero with roads closed there, but here in the Sonoran desert it will be in the 60s today. Sitting here having some coffee out of my brand new Henry cup. Life ain’t that bad.
