Morning, 72 here in central W Tn this AM .
Got a little road trip planned, going to meet a fellow forum member from another gun forum.
He's got a new toy for me.

Rain for the next 5 days and a high of 80. Planning to work out in the shop today to attempt some reorganization. Would like to get on the jointer plane on the bench top I have planed to use for reloading. Probably won't happen today but we will see. Any suggestions for a finish on the butcher block top? I was thinking about tung oil.

62 now with all the windows open and nice cool fresh air flowing thru the house. Later maybe triple digits but high 90’s for sure. After that it’s supposed to get hot.

Shortly we’ll be out continuing painting the shed. Didn’t get much painting done yesterday as there was lots of set up and prep to do. Today we should be slinging the paint.

72, calm winds, overcast. We're hoping for some rain today. We need it.
Coffee and guess what?
Yesterday was frustrating. The ice maker in the frig quit. Well, the inline filter was plugged up.
So I had to get a new one. The thing is fed from our RO system so why is it plugged up to start with?
Went to Ace Hdw in town. Yup, they had one. Brought it home and hooked it up. Sprayed water all over.
Not good. Went back for another and that was the only one they had. So, lunch time anyway so we
went to a good Mexican place next to Home Depot. Home Depot only carries the cartridge type.
No in line. Soo, try Ace in the neighboring town. Nope, but they get on the computer and an Ace
Hdw 15 miles away has one. Finally, after hours and miles I got one home, hooked it up and its
working nicely now.

Some days are diamonds and some days are ................. fill in the description of your choice.

Hatch....hope you folks survive the hot weather okay. Kind of extreme for that area isn't it? Just high 80's and muggy humid around these parts today.
90's for most of next week which is typical Summer here. My creek down at the range has dried up!

As I sit here sipping my Folgers and contemplating the mysteries of life I am reminded of the old days on the farms.
We lived there from 1947 to 1951 when my Mother said she'd had enough and we moved to town. The first farm
was 12 miles from town and we had no electric or running water. Nothing like a fancy ice maker that we simply
cannot live without now. There was an ice man who came twice a week and put a cake of ice in our ice box.
That was it. If I was around when he came, he would give me a sliver of ice to suck on.

Now I sit here in my man cave with my gun safe, pin ball machine, juke box, TV, small frig for drinks, a hot tub
in the next room, and a swimming pool outside, but I still think of those simple days with the ice man, and if
our ice maker quits it's an emergency. Well, I do need ice for my drinks in the evening don't I?

Just sipping my coffee and ruminating.

Yes, very extreme for us. Fortunately here on the east side of the state we get regularly get temps in the 80’s and low 90’s so most have A/C. Many on Sir Henry’s side of the state are used to temps 10 - 20 degrees lower so don’t necessarily have A/C. Probably folks like Gene who live in nicer newer areas will have A/C. Biggest concern for us is wildfire. We entered this heat wave already very dry and this is going to suck out any remaining moisture. And with the 4th right around the corner which seems to suck the common sense out of many we’re on pins and needles here.

Funny side story, my son’s in-laws are leaving the heat of Arizona and visiting here for about six weeks. They want to escape the heat down there and……..oops!

86° here and mostly sunny. There's only a 25% chance of rain today with 76% humidity (at least it's not in the 90's). Had cereal with strawberries and coffee this morning. Going to try and get some work done today while catching up on the Bosch series on Amazon.

Up early for church. 60s and still overcast but the rain has ended.
We got around an inch of welcome rain yesterday.
Folgers and a strawberry pop tart. Starting to tire of them. What's next?
Church and then brunch with chicken fried steak and eggs.
Nothing planned today. Guess I'll watch NASCAR at Pocono part two.

No not a Henry but a Marlin Cowboy 38-55 with the 24" octagon barrel.

63 heading to 104, crickey!

Continuing to paint my shed, yesterday I thought I would at least be in the shade as the side of the shed was shady. Come to find out that yes, the shed itself was shaded but my body especially while on a ladder wasn’t. Oh well, at least the surface being painted was a bit cooler. Had to quit at 11:30, just too hot!. Planning to get an earlier start today.

Stay cool all you in western US. Did see that the east coast is going to heat up next week.

With three trailers running we got 195 round bales hauled in yesterday ( about a 4 mile run down counrty roads) I'm pleased ( and wore out) got about 50 more to haul this comingcweek but feel like I'm getting it on the dowe n hill pull, got two 32 foot gooseneck trailers showing up at 6 am on Tuesday to haul weaned calves to salebarn.. after that, other than a few days of spitcspratibg brush and weeds from tractor... Im about done till fall... this old man is going to take some time off!

Coffee is done and its 61 right now only headed for a cool 70 today. Its a nice break from that 100 deg heat we had a week or so ago. Bike ride coming up after while. Should be a great day for a ride along the river. Looking for a Randy 38-55 range report later.

Sitting on back porch with my coffee, currently it’s 68 with expected high of 79. Will have a Skype with Denmark crew, and then Skype with a son who just got back from a deployment. Having a benefit tonight for my friend who had an accident and is unable to work yet. Everybody have a great day!

71, sunny, light winds.
Back from church and brunch. The country fried steak this morning was very chewy. Unusual.
We waited 50 minutes for our food and all the time a bunch of younger folks were drinking and
shouting not far from us.
It may be time to relocate. I like a happy place, but it was deafening in there this morning.
Too bad. but there a lot of other places to go that are good.

It’s 100 degrees outside and 94 inside. That’s why I’m in my teardrop at 72 degrees with the a/c running.

Got to 109 here, I have central air which has been running non-stop but has only kept my place at around 75. My place is in a small canyon and we are just starting to get shade from the hillside. Down to 99 now and will be able to go outside soon and do some chores. It is nice to have a couple of hours of light after it cools down a little. If you go to town it's doesn't cool down until just before dark.
