It was okay, I liked it, worth the rental price to me and the scenery was interesting and nice to see for that type of climate and scenery.

I could have written the script because I kind of guessed how the 'bad guy' was and his intentions on his 'wagon train' group of people that he took out west from the gitgo.

I would say it is worth renting even though it was not the BEST of many old, classic, famous movies.

Plus I like the fact that a woman decides to take some SELF DEFENSE measures for herself, family and home. I like to see that portrayed in some movies where they don't whine, whimper, cry and play the VICTIM CARD IN ANY MANNER. In this day and age and in society... everyone wants to play their cards and is a victim.

I believe in a man or a woman 'manning up' - suck it up and get on with needs to be done and so forth.

There is a LINE in the beginning of the movie that I totally DISAGREE WITH and if you see it - you may or may not agree with it. It has to do with good and bad people. She said something about bad people turning into good people in the tree - story telling line. Everyone lives on in happy land and life is wonderful. Kind of like a heaven on earth so to speak.

But she (Natalie P.) says some stupid line about how good people can never turn into BAD people or some such thing to her KID while telling her this story. THE KID ASKED HER THIS QUESTION POINT BLANK after the story ended. I told my husband that was full of it (!) and as long as people have free will, don't apply the Golden Rule in their lives, are honest in all things and don't exercise personal responsibility in ALL AREAS OF THEIR LIVES... yeah, so called GOOD people can screw up and good people CAN turn into bad people. Good people can become bad people and do bad things.

Plus BAD THINGS can happen to good people due to no fault of their own AND bad people can do bad things to GOOD and honest people too.

Interesting. I may just check out the movie sometime. I believe I get what you are saying. Movies have to be careful about the messages they put out there for people, however if it's the wrong message chances are most of the people were busy in their seats with their cell phones and missed it anyway.
More importantly, how was the popcorn, and did you get the extra large bag? :)

I watched Shenandoah a 1965 James Stewart Civil war movie. And Henrys showed up in a few scenes. He and his sons and daughter were well armed.

We do not go to movie houses. We do not care for the 'experience' at all.

I went to one movie house (One in a modern movie complex here in this college town.) out here since the summer of 2002, not too long after I moved out west, and it was a horrible experience with the sound so loud it almost made you deaf! Other people and I complained about the loud sound to the management and they BARELY LOWERED THE SOUND. I should have brought my gun ear muffs to the movie house.

The other NEXT to the last time was back east in my former state with one of my old lady friends. The movie was not worth the money even though it had 'good reviews' and the scenery was NOT what it was supposed to be. On top of that, that movie house visit back in my former state was a VERY RARE visit since I had NOT been to a movie house in about 20 years or so (?) since the long gone Sony Beta Max and old movie machines (VHS?) were invented. I had them with my late husband back east.

I used to ENJOY going to the movies, quality musical concerts, interesting plays, musicals, theatre in the round, etc. growing up and as a young lady on the East Coast from Maryland to Maine including in New York. I enjoyed them in the Great Lakes region even though they were FEW and FAR between.

You could not DRAG ME to any of those events in this day and age.

We rented the JANE GOT A GUN dvd and watched it here at home.

We made old fashioned popcorn with real melted butter and with a dash of salt on top. It was delicious.

Take care.

Yup. We don't watch movies on the BIG screen either because of the over the top big sound! I wait for the DVD release and watch movies via my Netflix DVD account. Much better. Much, much better. We have an older, but perfect surround sound system (Bose) and a large screen TV. I can turn it down to a comfortable level and read the closed captioning for the soft spoken whispers that our ears can't make out.

^^^

We do the same thing with our newer Sony flat screen television. We put on CC on most of the movies and we keep the sound at a comfortable level. Our television is not huge but it is bigger than the former small portable sets that my late husband and I owned all of our lives. I did not want one that big but my husband wanted me to try it out. It was on sale ($400. or so.) and I could not believe how the picture and sound are on it. I actually enjoy watching/listening to it. He was right and I was wrong.

I really enjoy my PBS shows on this television too.

We do not rent that many movies. We don't subscribe to services online but I know many people who do.

Right now, we rarely ever buy a movie but my MT husband did in the past. We are donating a lot of our collection, past posts here and elsewhere, to our local library because we have enjoyed and watched many of our 'favorites' for many, many years. We got our money's worth out of them, we enjoyed them immensely and we bought them brand new, on sale or at a cheap price.

It is time to share them with some people who can't find them online, on the boob tube or find them in the stores to buy or rent, etc.

We are still keeping a few of our absolute favorites for now.

Take care!

Watched the Man from Laramie with Jimmy Stewart tonight. The older lady character Kate pulls up in a buckboard and has a real nice Henry original with her. The Henry got some quality screen time too.

Watched an episode of Rawhide last night "Incident of the Death Dancer". At one point someone hands a rifle to the cooks helper, and he says "wow a Henry!" and sure enough it was!
