I remember saying...."Nope, ain't gonna happen!" when the Homesteader came out. I really like my Homesteader

So, this time I'll go with..."Gee, I don't think so." :D
Pistol Caliber carbines are just plain fun. IMHO everyone should try one out. Ive really had a great time down here in TEXAS USA shooting mine.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

No doubt Al, I do enjoy my pistol caliber rifles.
They generally see more action than the rifle calibers.
I saw this morning that a company called Great Lakes is about to debut a new 41 cal.
It's rimless and a tad longer, guess they are trying to get in on the straight walled hunting.

Not my cup of tea, but here’s some more information about it.

I’m a little bit on the other side of the coin as I have a thing about .223 rifles. I like the idea of a detachable magazine lever action, fast to shoot and fast to reload. A good option for a defensive rifle in states that don’t allow AR rifles. Now that being said, I’ll take my AR over any bolt or lever rifle for self defense anytime.

.223 and 300 Blackout use the same magazine. Here are the two side by side.

Jim, it may be possible as that got me to thinking about the Savage 99s. So I went looking to see what all they were offered in, but it being a rotary mag. may make a difference.

I don't know but they were offered in a few rimmed cartridges.

your research is appreciated .... since the sharp bullet point wouldn't come into contact with the primer of another cartridge, I don't see why it wouldn't work .... that said, I still ain't no authority .... decades ago I fired a Savage 99 and as I seem to remember that it was chambered for 308 .... don't recall anything negative about firing it .... that said, I've reached the point that I'd be hard pressed to purchase anything but a Henry

Looks like what the Henry Long Ranger should have been. Long enough so that the magazine can extend below receiver with the lever open. I might trade up.

I think Henry is making a good move here. This addresses a market segment where AR’s are not available. Some folks want a home defense rifle and this might be there answer. A magazine fed lever offers a much, much faster reload than a tube fed magazine. Even if your are limited to 10 round magazines, popping in a new mag is better than jamming loose rounds into a side gate.

Like Randy said, I’ll stick with my AR, but not everyone can make that choice.
