Range Towel Care and Maintenance

Post by ESquared » Wed May 29, 2019 7:24 pm

I've had a couple of inquiries about laundering the range towels, so figured I'd dig it out of a separate thread and post it here for those who might want to know.

These are a 100% Cotton "twill" weave, but a heavy one. Not quite duck-cloth/canvas (which has more to do with the direction the threads are woven), but very sturdy. This is a "10 oz" cotton twill, meaning that a square yard has a nominal weight of 10 ounces.

I laundered both the orange and pink towels as part of the development and testing process, so machine washing is easy in warm water/warm rinse (NO bleach!) and tumble dry. If you're really wanting to spiff them up post laundering, a light ironing on the embroidery area will smooth it back out, as it tends to "pucker" in the wash.

They do soften up with laundering. There's a "sizing" that renders the stiff finish in the dyeing process.

Hope this helps!

It does. I was not dainty with the pink one. It wiped down all the guns after practice. It's plenty dirty. I'll report back once washed. Thank you sir.

I still need to get mine dirty, but I think I just might wash first and then use.....soften them up a bit.

Good call. Removing that sizing will make them more absorbent...
