Kelly Kettle

Post by Greyhawk » Wed May 08, 2019 8:21 pm

I'm starting to think of my daughter's and my next kayak trip and I thought you guys might be interested in one indispensable item that we always take.. The Kelly Kettle. This is a stainless steel water boiler that has a chimney right up the middle so that the water jacket heats up incredibly fast. You can easily boil water with a few twigs and pine cones, feeding them right down the chimney. They come in a few different sizes, and their kits have stove grates, coffee cups, pans, etc. and a stand that inserts on top of the chimney for a pan to sit on. (all of the items nest together for packing) This has been a great addition to my camp gear over the last four years and I thought you all might find it interesting.

the Kelly Cooker is proof positive to me that just because I've never seen or even heard of something doesn't mean its got to be new .... the link below is to a site that discusses its history .... I wish I'd of known about it back with we were doing the type of camping and fishing where one could have really come in handy

Yes... Still made by the same family, in the same county in Ireland, since the 1890's.. Pretty cool!
