Saturday gun show

Post by bandit1250 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 3:15 pm

Went to a Saturday gun show in central Pa. Took the 39A "Squirrel Rifle" back to its owner now the work has been finished. He really liked it and so did a lot of other folks at the show. Several other folks want wood refinishing done and took my phone number to get in touch with me. I don't really want any more jobs and told them if I accept any wood to be done it will be slow getting it done because of how long I let it cure before returning it. Well any way my friend said he had some thing for me and had for got to bring it. So we stayed around and then went to his home and he gave me a nice Remington 581-S 22 LR. He knows how much I like the Remington rim fires from days gone by. He said that was extra for all the work I had done on the Marlin and he was very pleased with it. Very generous of him to give me the Remington. Then he and his wife took my wife and I out to dinner before we left for a 2 hr. ride home. Made a full day of it and had a good time. Here is the Remington he gave me. I already shot it with CCI Standard and RWS target rifle ammo and shot well but needs the trigger lightened. I may die the wood with leather die and refinish to get a walnut stock look. Good that it has the original 5 shot mag.

Those 580 series guns are such great bargains in the accuracy department. Love 'em. Congrats. You earned that one.

It looks like a new gun, save a few scratches.

What a day! Great looking Remington, so please keep us posted on your work and how it shoots for you as time goes on!

Nice to see that there are appreciative folks out there who can and will do right by work well done!

I know how satisfying it is to take an old wood stock and make it look the way you want it to. A very satisfying effort. Good luck with your new find.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.
