I sold off a few items that were just taking up shelf space and hit the pawn shop I usually go to hoping to get a deal. They had just got in some Leupold scopes. Almost brand new Leupolds in 4-12 AO matte finish and a 6-18 AO matte finish. I looked them over and they were as good as right out of the box. I thought about it a while and decided I had more use for a 4-12 for my Remington 541S than the longer tube more powerful scope. So I dealt with the guy on the 4-12 and ended up at $250 OTD for a scope that normally sells very near $400 at LGS. VX-2 4-12 with the AO will work great on the Remington and not be to big to look out of place. I shot it today after watching the Eagle behind my house for a while. After he flew away I decided to shoot it in and see how it worked. I really like it and it is super clear and very small duplex hair makes it easy to shoot it well. Amazing how much better it is than the 2-7 Leupold I took off. The Leupold 2-7 rim fire is very nice but not in the class of the 4-12. Looks nice on my rifle to. Had to shoot at 40yds. with the rain the ground got pretty soft at my target boards.
The rifle and scope.

The upper half of the target was the 541S with the new scope with 4 different lot numbers of Norma tac. 5 shots each. and one target with CCI standard. The right bulls eye was two shots at bugs and missed both. The top left at the very top was three push pins I took 4 shots to hit. Had to hold at the bottom of the pin as it was a little high. Low left target was for fouling shots . Shot 1 and then shot at the bullet hole to foul the bore with the different ammo. The right lower target was my CZ Basic with the ammo I plan to use in squirrel season.

Nice rifle and scope combination. I see you mounted it about as low on the rifle that you could. With that big front Objective I bet its supper bright.

It is a 40mm objective. Looks to be a little bigger than a 40. I don't have any thing over 44mm and don't like 50's at all. Don't like having to mount scopes high because of the objective size. This may end up on a center fire bolt action for varmint hunting but it sure lets me shoot the 541S up to its potential with the great optics this model has. Probably some out there better but this is USA made.

I've always thought a Remington 541 is one of the best-looking .22 bolt action rifles ever.

Way to "dress up" that old Remington. Nice find on the scope.
