Batting a 1000 on my last two buys

The last two rifles I have bought both have had the triggers really messed up by previous owners. The Remington 22-250 from last weeks show was a real pain on the trigger. I had to replace a few parts to get a consistent safe pull. Glad I have a parts box for Remington, Savage and Marlin. Then I bought a very low round count Savage 112 BVSS-S varmint model. It is a big heavy single shot chambered in 220 Swift. Rifle is in mint condition. Bought this to set the barrel back and chamber it for the 222 Remington. It has a after market trigger in it that the owner never fired after having it installed. Looks to be a Rifle Basics model. It was installed by another guy and not the owner. It would have went off when closing the bolt if he would have taken it to the range to shoot it. It had so little tension on the return screw on the trigger that the slightest hit on the rubber butt would fire it. Glad I went over this gun before taking it to the range. Readjusted all the settings on it and it now has a 1 lb.2 oz. pull that passes the bump test a 100% and this will be a bench shooter only. All the adjustments were unsafe when I got it. I want to put it up against it's twin that I have owned for a while to check its accuracy against my rifle that I know is very good shooter. Probably will use the one that shoots the best for the 222 chamber job. It really pays to do a complete check of the triggers and look for modifications especially on a gun that you buy used. Hoping to get this done before mid spring.
