One Gun

Have fond memories of the Ithaca 37 - a 37 in 20 gauge was my first real bird gun. Even though I probably spent more time bird hunting, than any other kind of hunting in those days (lived in bird country), shotgunning has never been my strong suit, since I am cross-eye dominant and, frankly, just didn't have a passion for it. Give me a 22 rifle or pistol and a box of shells, though, and I was one happy camper in my younger days. Still am, for that matter.

Me, too. And others here are as well. You're such a dependable and reliable shooting resource, I wonder if you'd consider providing some guidance to those of us who share that condition. I'm right handed, left eye dominant. I simply shut my left eye when shooting. Is that what you do?

I'm thinking the one gun rule is because things aren't like they are now and that turmoil is present. Because of the turmoil you might be forced to be more mobile and you can only physically carry one. If that was the case I would choose a CZ rimfire. Most likely a 452 American with a modern scope in .22LR. My reasoning is that I would only need it for harvesting small game and not self defense. In addition I could carry a lot more rounds. If I could add a pistol to the rifle which would be reasonable I would choose a Ruger 22/45. It uses the same ammo and could be used for self defense in limited situations.

Is that gun lacking the standard Ithaca game scenes on the receiver, or are they just not visible in the photo?

Just not visible in the photo. I had to stand quite a ways away to get it all to fit in.
