Another one finds a new home

Post by bandit1250 » Fri May 12, 2017 6:54 am

I decided to sell another rifle that doesn't get used enough that is bringing good money for the investment I made years back. A guy local has been after it for a while and with all that is going on here at home I decided to leave it go for the offer he made. I can't believe these rifles bring what they bring right now and probably will increase more. It is hard for me to sell my rifles but I have to leave a few go to some one who will get some enjoyment from them like I have had for a long time. This rifle is a Remington 541-S and they are in much demand right now. It was a very accurate 22 and would out shoot rifles that were a lot more money than this one cost. I will miss having it in the safe but times change and decisions need to be made on how many to keep around to shoot. The wife still says no Marlin 39A's are for sale.  The 541-S is the rifle at the top in the picture. Bottom is a 512-X which is never for sale. I always wished the 541 would have the wood like the older 512-X.

Your 512 sure has the most beautiful wood, Bandit. I would never let that rifle go away, either.

It's a good thing we haven't had a photo contest highlighting wood stocks. You would be hard to compete with....

I do understand, bandit.

I had a 541-S, too, and the cheaper versions in the 580, 581 and 582. All fine rifles that are super accurate, regardless of the version. All gone, now, because as I have grown older, I am shooting more and more for the overall experience each gun provides, via its styling, action, balance and feel, rarity, vintage and so and not just for the accuracy it delivers. Have learned the expensive way that it takes more than just accuracy for a gun not to collect dust in the safe. A gun that does collect dust in our safe, sooner or later, gets sold or traded.

I know exactly how you feel about selling one of your rifles, bandit. I can also see why you would never sell the 512-X. That stock is definitely one of a kind! Image
