bench top for my room

Post by bandit1250 » Fri Apr 21, 2017 6:40 pm

I worked on my counter top today for in my room. 1.75" thick butcher block that needed finish put on. I used the armor-all/polyurethane satin wipe on finish. I applied it with one of the sponges they make to do side walls on cars. It went on really smooth. The Armor-all makes it dry fast and I was able to put two coats on in 1 hr. I rubbed it down between coats with fine scotch brite. I have to join a 8' and a 4' together to get the 12' counter top I want. Probably put dowels in it and tite bond glue it together and clamp it until glue sets. My gun room floor is not flat and I will have some shimming to do to get things level. I am less than a 3/16 inch out but will get it better when the top is ready to go on the base cabinets the first of the week. Tomorrow and Sunday is a no working in my gun room weekend. This is the side my wife wants up. Has two coats on it now. She said it has character. ;)

Wow.....you not only find all the rifles with great wood furniture, you build your own wood "displays," too!!!

Looks great. You and your wife for sure have good taste in nice-looking wood products.
Will be glad to see it all when finished.

Nice tops, bandit. ;) They should definitely take whatever you throw at them, and keep coming back for more. Image

Nice looking counter top. I agree. You have a knack with good wood.
