Up in the Sandhills today as my dad gets a new hip. Anybody else been thru this? Anything I could pass on to him?

I don't know anyone who's had this but please pass on best wishes and get back in the saddle soon.

He took em apart and oiled em up good yesterday so they'd be ready as soon as he was able! Thanx RR!

Actually I do know of someone who had this done, and although I have never met the lady who actually had the surgery, her husband (who I sort of know) says she's doing fine and free of pain. Best of luck.

Not yet. I need hips and knees. Putting both off till I can't walk without it.

Best of luck!

I had two total hip replacements in 2007, and the only advice I can give is to make sure your dad does all the exercises and he should be fine. ;)

They went in through the front, guess that's the new advanced way a doin it. All the critters I've butchered it makes sense, less muscle to get through to reach the ball and socket, quicker to heal. One of the amazing parts is the blood loss is minimal and they didn't need to give him any blood during the procedure! All went well! He's on choice VA insurance and had 4 docs to choose from. The pick of the litter, after reading the reviews. was in the town they live in so that was convenient! They had him up for a short walk before the anesthesia had worn off! Still in the hospital as I type this but he may get to go home today depending how his physical therapy goes later. Pretty dang amazing to me! Thanx for all the comments, and well wishes, much appreciated!
