Getting under way finally

Post by bandit1250 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 8:09 pm

Finally things are getting started on getting our home back together from the damage from the car accident. They started today and made some progress on the living room. We decided not to do the dry wall because I don't want to paint any more. We are going totally with the knotty pine wood in the four rooms damaged and leave the kitchen go for now. It has no damage. We stayed with the natural finish so not to make the rooms dark. My wife loves the look of it and as long as she is happy I feel good. The one wall in the living room with no windows we are going to have it put on 45* the way she wanted it to be. For me "What ever." Natural color with satin finish and no stain.

Image
The 45* wall. It looks a different shade on the right side but it is the lighting in the room. It was equal in color before we had to turn on lights in the room. Not sure about this 45* thing. May be alright when the whole wall is finished. I will be glad when all four rooms are done and the mess cleaned up.

I'm glad your house is getting repaired. I hope the 45 degree wall comes out good.

I did our living room and dining room in natural pine slats like that last fall. I just put a light oil on the wood and it looks great. Yours does too. We enjoy the warm feeling of the wood, and hope you will too. Looks great, glad it's finally getting sorted out for you. It's been a long haul.

I am happy that you are getting your house fixed up after that person ran into your house.

Best wishes to you!

Cate
PS: My late husband and I finished a room in our former house, back east, in Sitka Spruce. We really liked it. I have seen rooms completed in various types of pine, birch, walnut, etc. and they really looked nice.

The tiny cabin that I lived in after my 'camping time' on the same private ranch in the Sapphire Mountains butt up to wilderness when I first moved out west had wood like yours in the entire cabin. It looked nice too.

bandit, I am really pleased to hear that your house is finally getting the damage repaired. The past few weeks must have been very difficult for you. The knotty pine looks great, and it will save a lot of redecorating hassles. Painting isn't my favourite job, either. I normally manage to get more on myself than where it's supposed to go. ;)

Looks great Bandit! I'm a bit biased. My entire house has walls like that.

Thanks for the update and photos, Bandit. The knotty pine looks fantastic! Great decision.
