My Grandnephew turned 13 this past weekend and he is turning into one good guitar player. Named after my Dad who was great at playing the mandolins I gave the one he like the best to play to the boy for his Birthday. I wasn't much at playing string instruments even though my Dad tried to teach me I thought a great idea to pass it on to someone to enjoy it and it's family history. I think it was made in the late 40's or 1950 and still in great shape. He was happy to get it! Well he was in his swimming gear as they had a pool party for him and his friends.

Often the older instruments are better than the new stuff you find today. It's the same for many things you find these days. Woodworking tools, Firearms, and more. Nice gesture, keeps it in the family.

Awesome, I’ve always enjoyed the sound of a Mandolin. Hopefully he will learn it and your dad will enjoy his playing from above.

I gave two of my father’s firearms to nephews and I know my dad is appreciating their enjoyment of his guns.

That's very nice! My GF's grandson is quite a player. I got so much better in the past few years, he is also going to a music college in the Santa Clarita area. I had a Gibson Les Paul sitting in my inventory. His grandmother bought it off me as a graduation gift for him.
I told him, "don't you ever let that guitar go!" Hehe, lol. I meant it.
