Well my ol friend Buster has crossed the rainbow bridge....

Post by fortyshooter » Thu May 28, 2026 8:45 pm

Yes very sadly due to his cognitive decline,,,,dog dememntia...I had to put him down yesterday. He was mostly a one person dog full of spunk and tough as nails when he needed to be. We had him for 11 years and he was 1 year old when my wife found him online at a local dog rescue organization.
We had a dog just like him 7 years earlier before Buster that lived 16 years but he had a milder disposition.
It is just strange I have lost my wife to the slow destruction of dementia and now only 4 months later my dog to canine cognitive decline as they call it.
He showed his grit right down to when I had to load him in has carrier and did not willingly go. But his spirit is still in the house I believe.

Well yesterday after the vet visit for Buster my son called me and him and I went out for beer and steak at the local Texas Roadhouse and I really needed that to release tension. It has been a stormy rainy period during Buster's last days and the sun was out with clear blue sky today. So after dinner I set up in my driveway garage door up....70's music cranked up with cold beer and sat back and watched many dragon flies doing their high speed maneuvers in the sky. Was cool to watch as the sun set with full moon starting to come up....simple pleasures!

Check your PMs, you know Miss T and I are thinking of you.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

You've had it pretty rough lately. I'm glad your son helped you release some tension. I find the simple pleasures are best.

Perfect way to celebrate Buster’s life.

That's a tough one, but one that you have to do occasionally. I feel your pain.
