Rewatching the series...
Just finished the first season again... just six episodes. Have watched the series several times over the years, but like MANY action series there is a glaring error in the writing. The group whines about their lack of ammunition, weapons, supplies constantly. Yet, they pass numerous military convoys along the interstate, roadblocks at intersections, and along the roadways... not once do you see them stop and check the backs of the covered supply trucks in the convoys, search the fully equipped military members laid out at the scenes or pick up the fully automatic weapons or magazine carriers from the bodies. (Not to mention the hand grenades, and other heavy weapons available.... could come in really handy with large groups of walkers, yes?)
There are humvees, pickups with winches, and wreckers all along their route and they fail to upgrade their transportation or add to the convoy, at LEAST the wrecker. Not like the vehicles are all old and dead or the gas is spoiled, this is season one, the "appocolypse" has just begun.
I think I would have found a sporting goods store and got pads to defend against bites, stocked up on arrows and compound bows for silent kills, etc. They pass them when they pass through small towns.
Dale whines about tools or spare parts, especially the hoses, but never stops at the Gas Stations or Auto Supply Stores and grabs a full tool box or fifty hoses and belts... duh.
As stated above, it happens in a LOT of action movies and tv shows. The Hero fights a bad guy with a weapon bare handed and kicks his butt, then LEAVES the weapon behind and moves on through the Jail, Hotel, bad guy House, whatever, empty handed to fight ten more guys empty handed, leaving all the weapons behind. Handguns, submachine guns, bats, knives, shotguns... all so they can karate chop, kick, and kung fu their way to the girl and back out.
John Wick is a bad A$$, but he trades up in weapons, or takes spare mags when he kicks butt.
