Bet there is less rape

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

It is my opinion that decisions in Israel are based on common sense, not woke nonsense.

Yup, me too. But they showed a couple of the men carrying, the women are just more interesting for the cameras. You know, the news folks like to gain views too. The Swiss take military arms home as well. I remember a short military channel program about WWII where a certain short WWII leader said, "Next we shall take Switzerland. They don't even have a military." His advisers said, "Sir, the whole country is a military."
"Oh, Next we shall go AROUND the Swiss and move on."

Sort of like when another leader proposed attacking the US on their Home Soil. Admiral Yamamoto warned:
"There would be a Rifle waiting behind every blade of grass."

While most Japanese celebrated the Victory at Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto wrote in his Diary: "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve."

I heard a story years ago that a German king or a kaiser or a prince or a high ranking German officer made state visit to Switzerland and allegedly asked a high ranking Swiss officer how many men Switzerland had under arms. The reply was 500,000. The visiting German said what if I sent 1,000,000 men into Switzerland? The reply was reported to be "Each of my men would shoot twice".

I don't know if it's true story but it is just too good for me not to pass it on.

Maybe, the leaders are treating them like citizens, not subjects?

From what I read Israel is much more restrictive in gun ownership and allowing civilians to carry in public than the US. There has been a call for relaxing of regulations since the Oct 7 attack, and there has been a big uptick in folks jumping through the numerous hoops in order to arm themselves.

I did a quick search and found it difficult to find a concise explanation of their laws and regulations. One thing was obvious, they do have rather stringent training requirements. Most revolve around being, or having been in the IDF. Until recently, they also had a requirement of proving need to carry in order to get a permit to carry in public. I would be willing to bet that most, if not all of the pictures you see of "civilians" openly carrying in Israel, are members of the IDF, including reservists, that are off duty. Keep in mind the compulsory conscription of Israel citizens means that a large chunk of the population is serving, or has served in the IDF.

My video was pretty clear that those pictured are all members of the IDF and required to have their firearms at hand at all times. I believe both Israel and the Swiss require mandatory military service for most citizens.

I was not referring to the pictures in your video specifically. You often see pictures pictures of people in civilian clothes carrying weapons in Israel, and it gives the impression that almost anyone can carry a gun in Israel. The reality is that it is strictly controlled.

Fortunately, we Americans are much more culturally advanced. You will not find an American with a rifle behind every blade of grass or sitting next to a window with his rifle. Instead, we allow single, unaccompanied military-age males, [rather well-dressed], free access to our country. We then provide transportation and other logistical support to anywhere in the country, where again, we will be required to provide lodging, rations, and other logistical support.

Isn't it wonderful to be so enlightened? My question—the only question—is where the Neanderthals are when we need them . . .

I was in Egypt in the mid-80’s and it was common to see people walking around with an Uzi or AK47. It was far more pro-American then.

Virginia is open carry. The first time that I saw that, I thought someone could steal the rifle hanging in the window. Then, I seen people carrying a sidearm. It is interesting. Yet, it is a double-edge sword. If not careful, someone could take your firearm and use it against So, one has to be mindful of their surroundings and able to maintain control of the firearm. At least with conceal carry, there is an element of surprise. I take it that is why law enforcement officers like for people to keep their distance?

Soon after they enacted open carry here in SC, you started seeing a lot of businesses put up signage barring carry on the premises. Unintended consequences. Before open carry, signage was very rare.

My first thought on the photo was, the 2 legged weapon is more dangerous than the AR :)
