2024 Indy 500

Post by JEBar » Sun May 26, 2024 3:58 pm

rain has come and gone .... the track is pretty much ready .... the massive crowd is returning to the stands .... Kyle Larson has chosen to race at Indy today and will miss the 600 in Charlotte .... I don't follow Indy car racing and must say I'm really surprised at the evolution of some of the body designs .... looks like the races will overlap ... I look forward to watching them both and anticipate giving our TV remote a workout

I watched the Monaco GP. 1st time in 93 years that a Monaco born driver won the race.

How was Indy 500?

Not very exciting until late in the race and then two last lap finishes to make it a great race.

I have to hand it to the Indy fans, they really support the 500 .... over 300,000 stuck with it through rain delays all the way to the end .... biggest surprise for me was, while I'm sure they do a good job, it really takes them a while to cleanup after a wreck

I don't know how many saw the interviews, but NBC evidently does not have a delay or a filter. The 2nd place guy clearly let out an F-bomb that almost knocked me off the couch. Great impression for the young viewers out there. Talk about fines, they should zap him big time. NBC too.

Much more exciting and better racing than Monaco.
Monaco is beyond a joke as far as actually racing on track goes. 60 odd laps before there was an on track overtake for position and that was for 13th. The top 10 finished in the exact positions they started the race.
They might as well hand out the trophies and points after qualifying as the race is really just a 78 lap high speed street parade.

You have to hand it to Newgarden, he really sent it in there on the last lap. Wow! He deserved to win with that move.

Almost agreed. The reality is, it’s a historic race, and one that everybody loves. It’s known to be mostly about qualifying, but think back over the years… There have been races with only 3 of 20 finishers. There is definitely potential for drama and excitement. This year, the excitement was seeing Leclerc be the first local boy to win Monaco in 93 years. It is definitely a difficult circuit to pass on, but everyone has a shot at pole.
