^^^^^

You need a passport to travel internationally. The Real ID is for domestic flights if you don’t have a passport. I think it takes affect in 2025. It was supposed to be in place already but was delayed because of Covid.

With my enhanced ID I can travel to Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Canada could happen.

Washington State EDL. Travel is allowed bidirectional. Kinda weird that WA says "entering".

https://www.dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses- ... censes-edl
"They provide travelers with a low-cost, convenient alternative for entering the United States from Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean through a land or sea port of entry, in addition to serving as a permit to drive."
Using your EDL to board a plane
You can use your EDL to board domestic flights. It isn't accepted for international flights.
There is a link at the Washington url that takes you to Canada info.

More Info (including bidirectional travel).

I'm surprised that there is that much international travel on here.

Thought just about everyone was a homebody, like I am, lol.

Last time I traveled internationally was in 2012 to the London Olympics.

Even tho I live 80 miles from the Canadian border it’s been many years since I have visited Canada. I do have my enhanced license so it’s good to know I’ll be “allowed” back into the US should I visit north of the border.

The last time I went out of the country, it was on a C-141.
