Sad times for WA FFLs

Washington passed a nasty gun ban law and the shops have been forced to store most of their inventory. I went into Cabelas near Tacoma and their gun department was a ghost town at 300 pm on a Friday.

Great for lever and bolt action, shotgun and SA pistol fans, they had very few Semiautos. The Gun Library consisted of just bolt action, some old stuff and odds and ends. A lot of small shops simply will not survive the huge drop in sales. Cabelas will just start selling more fishing tackle. You can’t even buy a 10/22 because it is suddenly an Assault Weapon.

Whats really sad is it wont change a thing. Example Chicago. Colorado is headed in the same direction.

Still kind of up in the air whether you can purchase a 10-22 in WA. Very confusing.

From the link in John's post:
"Guns not covered by the ban" such as the M1 Garand and the 10/22. Although they are not specifically mentioned and may themselves not be specifically covered by the ban, it is still not legal to transfer them, and here is why- Part of the problem is an FFL is bound to make, in good faith, an attempt to follow all laws federal and state. Both the Feds and State have ruled that until 01/01/24 only certain guns may be transferred under a NICS check, bolt guns, lever guns, shotguns etc, nothing semi auto, the state has said the same. This interestingly enough was because Bob Ferguson would NOT apply federal law and allow those with a CCP to not have a second background check run, nothing to do with 1639. So we cannot conduct a background check federally on the 10/22 and M1. The state has said two things, as per 1639 ALL Semi Auto Rifles fall under the definition of an assault rifle and need to be transferred on a County/State form, but part of that form you must check a box to define the gun being transferred as either a pistol or Semi Auto Assault Rifle, and by the new definition, if you choose that box, you cannot transfer the gun."

But I also found this statement online:
And the law will continue to allow the sale or transfer of some semi-automatic rifles and shotguns that don’t fit lawmakers’ definition of “assault.” The Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that at least two semi-automatic weapons currently on the market will remain available: the Ruger 10/22 carbine and the Stoeger M3000 sporting shotgun.

Wait till the AG finds out you can bump fire a 10/22, with a 25 rnd mag no less.
