The straight wall Lee FCD has a floating crimper. Is that standard in the Lee normal die?clovishound wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 8:00 am....Keep in mind that the Lee FCD has two different styles of crimpers. The straight wall dies have the standard crimping with a post seating sizing ring. IOW it's the same crimper as their normal die with a sizing ring added.
Site seems to be OK. Load issue should be resolved now.

Re: Reloading question…..
Mags, I believe so. I only have one set of Lee dies[4 die set for .45 Colt], all others are RCBS. It seems the regular seating die has the same floating gizmo in there also. They work for me, so, I just set 'em and use 'em. Hope that helps.Mags wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:50 pmThe straight wall Lee FCD has a floating crimper. Re: Reloading question…..
Yes, the straight wall FCD has exactly the same crimping die as their normal die, and you should see no difference in how it crimps. That's why I no longer use it, I find no advantage to post seat sizing, unless I have a lot of range brass with the "Glock smile" on it. The only caveat to this is that with larger diameter cast bullets, the sizing ring may actually size down the bullet inside the case, and reduce neck tension. That is why the FCD gets a lot of hate. That and the fact that Lee makes it.Mags wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 12:50 pmThe straight wall Lee FCD has a floating crimper. There is, I think, humor here which does not translate well from English to sanity. - Sanya
