Cat 3 Ian is hammering Cuba .... once it gets back over the Gulf it will strengthen .... flooding already in part of the Keys .... they say a storm surge of 5 to 15 feet will hit Tampa Bay .... for us the projected track has been moved pretty far to the west .... they are still calling for 4" of so of rain in our area .... power outages are still being called for

My wife’s cousin’s husband….man that’s a mouthful… was in Tampa Bay over the weekend. He was there with his two sons to watch the Green Bay/Tampa Bay football game. He’s originally from Wisconsin and is a big Packers fan. Anyway, he flew out yesterday so got out ahead of the storm. It’s a little strange for me out here in the west to have even a slight link to a Hurricane. Glad he got out.

Go Packers! I thought it was a great game. No hurricanes here although tornadoes do hit the region.

Hurricane Ian has winds just under Cat 5 and is expected to make landfall along Florida's west coast sometime late Wednesday afternoon or early evening.

the Sheriff of Lee County Florida is reporting hundreds of deaths .... early pictures show massive flooding .... massive power outages .... soon Ian will be back over the ocean ..... looks like SC is next, thankfully it has been reduced to a Tropical Storm

If you could look off to the east, you would see the high school I attended. There were times when we had to stop class because the noise from the speedway was too loud to continue.

I have some friends who just built a new house in Sarasota. I'm glad that Ian went in south of them but I'm pretty sure they got plenty of wind and rain. I'll check with them later in the day.
