Beaver tail? How cooked and was it tasty?
You always read the early hunters and trappers loved beaver tail... any of you guys that trap ever tried any? I just wondered what it tastes like.

I've seen it prepared .... I was told it taste like organ meats .... I don't care for meat from any organ so I didn't give it a try

I am not sure that translated well through time. It's pretty oily; the fats and oils gave a lot of energy as a food source. I'm thinking it was prized for that reason, like salt pork and rashers of bacon. From what I remember, it was not great. It wasn't something I cared for as a kid.
