How it began 37 years ago with a hot new Mustang......

Found these pictures today going thru the paperwork of when I had ordered the 1985 Mustang LX 5.0 in late March of 1985. Less than 10,000 bucks got you a nice light
Mustang 5.0 ( 302) package all the GT running gear in a stripped down coupe model lighter than the GT and cheaper too!
Pictures on the left side were Day One pics and on the right side I call Day Two after installing my Drag Pack which was an improved air cleaner assembly using the bumper Ram Air scoops from 1968 Olds 442 W-30 plus other tuning mods. Remember this was the last year for a carbed non computer Ford Mustang V8 and it came with a Holley 585 4bbl carb... hyd.roller cam and tube headers from Ford. I had dealer install 3.73 rear gear.

Last picture from late 1989 or early 90 when setup to run against those Buick Grand Nationals of late 80's. Fun times!

I’ve always liked the Fox Body Mustang. Sounds like you built it right. Speaking of sound did you do anything to the exhaust? They sounded nice stock and I bet letting it breath better really made a big difference.

Yes....Mister Exhaust here! The 85 came with the small tube headers with a 2.5 inch Y- pipe that merged into a single large cat. convertor and then split into dual pipes and mufflers. I ditched the convert and replaced with a single 3 inch pipe with the convert shields tacked on...sneaky... and then the factory mufflers. Later on to Flowmasters like everyone else. Then I made up my own headers using crossover primary tubes from left side into one right side collector with a cutout and then to the dual mufflers. Was running 12.60's at 108 with that setup too!

I had a Flowmaster crossover on my 1970 F250 with the 360. It really was throaty at idle and when I put my foot into it yet it mellowed out at highway speed.
