Idaho/Montana trip
Wife and I are headed to my friends ranch in Idaho, then going to check out the Chief Joseph Ranch in Darby Montana where they film "Yellowstone".
This ought be very nice. Heck, the drive in that country is worth it. Can't wait.

If you get a chance, stop in Big Timber at the Shiloh Sharps shop.

Thanks all! Yeah forty, we'll be going to the range in Rexburg, Id. I have two rifles at his ranch; an 30-06 and 7x57 Mauser. Handloads only.
Can't wait.

Re: Idaho/Montana trip
That 7x57 is a really nice caliber to hand load. Depending on the rifle it can reach some
high velocities. A good deer round.

Re: Idaho/Montana trip
You bet. It'a semi customized 1895 Chilean Mauser; newer stock, barrel cut to 23", bolt tuned down, D & T for scope and a Timney trigger.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:45 amThat 7x57 is a really nice caliber to hand load. Depending on the rifle it can reach some

Load is 41.0-42.0gr IMR4064 with a 139gr Hornady FB Interlock. 2750-2775 over the screens. Accurate as heck.

Re: Idaho/Montana trip
Mine is a Ruger No 1 Light Sporter. I have a Leupold 4x10 mounted on it and I've taken numerous turkey
and deer with it over the years. It's small and compact but has a solid hit.
I know, only a single shot but I've learned through the years to make the first shot count.

Re: Idaho/Montana trip
Have a Ruger No.1B here in 30-06 with a Leupold 3-9x40 on it. It was my Elk rifle. Love that rifle. Heavy, but, I forgive it cuz its accurate. Nothing wrong with a single shot.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 2:25 pmMine is a Ruger No 1 Light Sporter. I have a Leupold 4x10 mounted on it and I've taken numerous turkey
