Banks, Policies, and Customer Service?
So . . . .
I was out and about and wanted to buy a six pack of cold Jalisco Estrella beer. As I parked in front of the liquor store, I realized I left my cash at home.
In the same shopping center was a branch of my bank.
I walked in and told the teller:
ME: I would like to withdraw Ten Dollars from my checking account.
TELLER: Any withdrawal under $100.00 must be done through the ATM outside, its bank policy.
ME: I don't have an ATM Card, will you please withdraw $10.00 from my account?
TELLER: I am sorry sir, its against bank policy.
ME: OK then, I would like to withdraw $1,000.00 from my account, and I want all the cash in ten dollar bills.
TELLER: Weill . . . OK sir, it will take me a few minutes, I have to go to the vault.
ME: I have all the time in the world.
The teller came back with a pile of ten dollar bills, and counted out my $1000.00 one ten spot at a time. After five minutes, she was finally done.
TELLER: Here is your cash sir.
I took one of the ten dollar bills from the stack
ME: Thank you, now I would like to make a deposit of $990.00 . . . . . .
Boy, does that ice cold Jalisco Beer taste good !

I was banking through Wells Fargo when I bought my Miata. They turned me down for my car loan. A small local bank did the loan, no problem. Called the bank (Cashmere Valley) asked what their checking fee was, no fee. WF was $6 a month. How much to use online bill paying, no charge. WF was another $6. How much for savings acct. if balance is below a certain amount, no charge. WF was another $6 if balance dropped below $100. Guess who my bank is now.

Re: Banks, Policies, and Customer Service?
Bank of America started sticking it to us at every turn. I closed all our accounts after refi'ing the house thru the state credit union. I made them close out all my accounts in cash, then walked across the street and deposited all the cash into the accounts I had at the credit union. (They would have had to hold part of the funds til the checks cleared if I took back drafts.)
Still have that account twenty plus years later, and the Navy Federal Credit Union Account as well.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

The teller surely new what you were going to do. Banks are a joke. On a side note Marine. Bank Of America is anti- second amendment also. I had a couple of there credit cards at one time but I dont now. When I called to cancel one of them the lady asked why and when I told her she didnt know what the second amendment was.

You know Big Al, that is whats wrong with our country and educational institutions. I still teach 2 college courses online, and they all get tested each semester on all of the constitutional amendments. When someone complains what it has to do with Homeland Security, well, I just reply that they need to know what they are protecting, if they don/t they might as well just go to Walmart and be a security guard or greeter !

Re: Banks, Policies, and Customer Service?
I walked into my bank of 30+ years, wanted to cash a check for $118.00, deposit $100.00 of it and get $18.00 back. Teller who has done transactions at the drive up, and never ask for ID, asks me for ID, I show her my drivers license and she starts to write the license # on the back of the check. I asked her to stop, I didn’t want that # on the check, she calls over the acting manager and the manager says “what’s the problem”, I explained and she takes the check and puts it in between her fingers and points it at me and says” you can deposit the check and then go to the ATM to with the $18.00. I told the acting manager that the only thing I was going to do is to close my account and take my business elsewhere. I did and can’t be happier.

I've asked to take out large sums of cash, large to me, say $2000 and the cashier/teller asked me what the money was for. I promptly stated that I would like to make a cash withdraw. Said to myself if it ever happens again I will ask how much do you bring home in your paycheck each week.
Re: Banks, Policies, and Customer Service?
And if you want to make a large cash deposit they will ask where you got the money and want your drivers license.

Re: Banks, Policies, and Customer Service?
25 years ago I was withdrawing $10k from a credit union account to purchase a car, Credit union was only a small local one, I was transferring the money to a bank account where I could access the funds easily state wide.
There was a charge to do the transfer electronically, there was a charge if I took a bank check, I ended up withdrawing it in cash along with a letter stating where the money had come from as larger cash deposits need to be reported as part of the laws we have regarding tracking proceeds of crime.
What could have been achieved in a minute took half hour but somehow was financially more cost effective for the banks.
