covid shot

Post by The Wiz » Wed Feb 10, 2021 4:26 pm

After a 180 mile round trip, I finally got the first installment of a vaccine courtesy of the VA. I had to go that far for an opening at a VA clinic. I only live about 20 miles from a major VA hospital. Go figure. Once I got to Greenville, NC it went pretty smoothly. In my conversation with a nurse( with very pretty eyes) she said they only do about 310 shots a day. That is with only three nurses each day. On top of the actual shot, they also screen, consul, and threaten us with bodily harm if we don't follow instructions (kidding). They are also limited by logistics. Bless them. Another set of unsung heroes.

Very true, Wiz, nurses are awesome. My nurse at the VA, Katy, managed to get me in a couple of weeks ago, no appt. for my 1st shot.
She is as sweet & helpful as can be. She drives 90 miles one way, every day to work & back.
My VA is only 35 mi. from me one way, 45 mins. not so bad.......unless there's ice.

I prefer the VA to private care. I feel like I’m at home there. Sometimes it does take some extra effort just like being in the military.

The VA had me scheduled for the end of the month but my HMO will give me the shot today.
I'm 80 so I'll be the test case for the rest of you.

My wife is a registered nurse for the last forty years. She has been a ICU nurse, then a director of our local hospice, then a director of a large dialysis center for the last 15 years.
She and I with our oldest grand daughter will be getting our China Virus shots this afternoon. Stay Healthy and Wise.

Got my shot today at 2:oo. Piece of cake. Well organized staff of about 10 nurses and 2 Doctors
that will do over 200 shots today alone. No soreness or any side effects.
