Don't know about anyone else but my stocks have really taken a beating the last two days. Pretty much wiped out all the gains for the third quarter. Blame is being put on the manufacturing industry and China. I'm hoping for a rally by year's end.

Haven't looked for a few days but my bond fund was doing OK last time I looked. I'm not brave enough for a stock fund. I lost out on quite a lot the last few years by not being in stocks but back when the market took the big dive I had most everything in bonds so lost very little.

My 401k has "lost" $2,500 (6%) in the last week...not too happy with that.

I have been playing around with mutual fund accounts since 1990 or so. Since the market is hard to predict, I have come to investing monthly in different sectors. I use a bond fund, tech. funds, balance fund and a mid-cap fund. I figure that one of them will be up on even given day. If not, it is good to buy when prices are low.

If the product (market) is solid, I try not to worry about a fund. I typically try and wait a cycle (a full year), before I thinking about making changes. In fact, I was thinking about changing my bond fund last year. But, it started performing better this year.

The main issue that it seems to be with the market is that someone(s) is playing politics. I am not trying to bring up politics. It just seems that the economy is solid. So, there is no real reason for the fluctuations. Yes, there is an issue with trade. But, people are always trying to get the best deal possible. That is part of the market. As long as there is materials and labor to produce goods, the only issue left is profit. At this point, people seem to be coming to terms with a profit margin that all are willing to live with, for now.

Huge day today -October 4th- all indexes went up by at least 1% some close to 2%

Yeah, my stocks rebounded a bit but still not fully back to the level they started the week. I'm only down a little under $500 for the week.

I was down a bit about the latest market reports but when analyzing my portfolio I'm still ahead of my purchase costs on all but one of my stocks. I purchased some more stock this morning hoping the "discount" will pay off within the next five years or so. I'm not in it for the short term. It's a gamble but one I'm willing to take today. If I'm wrong I'll just live with it.

Most of mine is just sitting making a minimum 3 % interest. Was looking at some funds that offer more but will stay put for a while.

In the last three years my IRAs have doubled. In 2019 my best went up 38.6%. Im cashing out most of my savings and putting it into the house.

We're not rich by any means either. I look at my stocks as more "life insurance" for the wife. It will be there when I'm gone and she can do with it what she wants.
