Peer pressure, when I started smoking at 14 in the mid-sixties just about everybody I hung out with smoked and while my parents didn't smoke most of my Aunts and Uncles did. Also smoking was a lot more accepted back then. High School had a dedicated smoking area for us, when I went to Junior College some of the professors had a stack of cheap ashtrays by the door and you could smoke during class.

By the time I was in my early 20s I was a dedicated pack and a half to 2 packs a day smoker and during that time I also watched my stepdad slowly die from emphysema and even that wasn't enough to make me quit.

Thanks a bunch PW ! sure do appreciate the support. This is a BIG deal to me, so I'm kinda proud of myself.
Wasn't sure I could do it at 2+1/2 packs a day. But I think I have it licked!
Thanks again!

So I had quit cold turkey one time, (took a lot of will power), and then I had this house keeper, (see I was single at the time), and she said, "want to sit down and have a smoke with me". Course she was a hottie wearing a halter top and shorts, so I figured just one won't hurt. Well, yes, yes it did. I was right back on them.

The moral is, no matter how hot she is, DON'T DO IT! Just one will get you back on smokes.

Well, I got married and the cleaning lady is long gone, replaced with a very large Chezk woman who doesn't smoke. :(

But she cleans good.

True story.
