Lots of bids but none yet quite reached the 'minimum bid' threshold.

[update: never experienced an auction before. so I misunderstood the purpose of 'minimum bid'. it's not a threshold. it is the next acceptable bid on top of the latest bid.]

Yep, that can be a bit confusing at first. I used to go to live auctions (real auctioneers) pretty frequently, and the higher end ones for antique furniture and such are pretty much the same. The auctioneer has minimum bid points that go up as the bidding goes higher. They do that to weed out the jerks who try to win by outbidding the last guy by a dollar. If you're gonna play in that kind of auction you'd best have a fat checkbook, and not get puckered up by a measly few hundred dollars. ;)
