Nope. But did look at the latest Bimart ad booklet to see what they had on sale for ammo this month.

It's been a long while since I shopped at Walmart, but today I was passing by and stopped in for a few household necessities. I also stopped by the ammo case twice while in the store.

I got my first CT firearms permit in Dec. 2013 and bought my first gun, a Henry H001, in April 2014. I had no idea there was an ammo shortage at the time and was totally shocked to know that while I could buy a .22 rifle, I could not buy any ammo for it. After that, I bought .22LR ammo whenever I could and since then, I've built up an inventory of more than 10K rounds; more than I am likely to shoot for the rest of my life.

But, the Walmart ammo case was so full that they moved the shotgun shells out of the locked case and onto a long, high shelf in a nearby aisle to make room for pistol and rifle calibers in the case. The 22LR section was totally stocked with every make and version that there is. It was so very hard for me not to buy some. My fingernails were digging into my palms as I resisted.

I left the store with a large quantity of toilet paper, Kleenex, and some very sore palms.

.22lr is fully available here too but the price has more than doubled. I remember buying a 500rd brick of decent plinking .22lr right before the shortage for $9. I've got around 2500 rds, probably should buy some more but I don't shoot .22lr that much. I have a decent stock pile of 9mm, .566 and some .357 (it's so expensive) and try to replace whatever I shoot.

Someone told me that during the shortage employees at our local Walmart (and probably other stores too) would call their friends and relatives whenever a shipment of .22lr ammo arrived and they and all their friends and relatives would have it all bought out within a couple of hours of it being put on the shelves.

I thought it was strange that after most other calibers became fully available it was quite a while before .22lr did.

That is odd. The prices today at Walmart were much lower than I have ever seen them. Check out TargetSportsUSA online. They have great prices, too, and ship larger quantities for free.

I guess I wasn't clear, meant the price everywhere for .22 lr had more than doubled since the shortage. 9mm and .223/.556 also went up but not nearly as much as .22lr.

No, you were clear, Dave. I misunderstood.

Since I never bought ammunition until 2014, I had no reference; but you are right.

This graph of the Producer Price Index By Industry clearly shows a dramatic rise in cost of Ammunition from 2007 to the present.

Bought a bunch of ammo from Target Sports. They goofed up my order and sent boxes of 7.62 X 39 when I had ordered 9mm. Not sure how that happened. I did order some 7.62 X 39 but not of that brand. There was difference of about 24.00 and they credited my card that amount and then gave me another 20.00 discount for keeping the order. I thought that was pretty cool. Also found a CZ 97B at a very good price and bought it.

Funny Al, when my Brother in Law passed many years ago, I inherited his SKS which I've shot maybe twice in 20 years.
Point is, he had a surplus of 7.62 x 39 ammo which I still have and will probably never use. I know, not what you want, but just kinda struck a nerve. This is the good ammo that feeds too.

Yesterday I got a new flashlight rather than replacing my "snake" bore light. The bore light is quite well-used, has come apart at the handle, exposed the wiring, and leaves no solid support for the light end when trying to position it to shine it inside a barrel. It was perfect to use as I checked out my BP bore after cleaning my Trapper 50CAL pistol.

This Quantum LED flashlight has an intensely bright beam (yeah, it has a punch with 588 lumens). Of course, packaging warns never to look at the light either when using the bright or less-bright settings. What is helpful with my handguns is that when I zoom-in to the smallest beam with this light, it is less than 2" in diameter. It lights up a barrel really great, especially with (again) these elder eyes. I'm also thinking of getting a second one to carry in my car, which has very dim interior lighting. BTW, I got this at Harbor Freight, on sale for under a ten-spot.

The Quantum has nicely brightened up ;) my work, and I consider it to be my newest "gun-cleaning accessory."

ZERO bullets are reliable, too; well made, with consistent weights and measurements.
