1100 / 11-87
I either have owned or still own every type of shotgun that I know of .... when it comes to hunting or recreational shooting my long-time, all-time favorite is a Remington 11-87 with a seldom used but very capable Remington 1100 backup .... the 11-87 has fired untold thousands of shells at skeet and put multiple deer in the freezer .... it is always close at hand when we are at home or on the road .... in watching "The Green Berets" I noticed John Wayne firing an 1100 at skeet ....

Re: 1100 / 11-87
I forgot what the difference is between the two. I know the 11/87 is semi auto; is the 1100 also?
I have an 870 magnum pump.

Re: 1100 / 11-87
Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 it is a gas operated semi auto .... the 11-87 is a semi-automatic shotgun is based on the Remington 1100 and was first announced in 1987 .... at first the 1100's were chambered for 2 3/4" shells and their barrels would not accommodate choke tubes, ours is one of these types .... I have had the barrel modified by Carlson for use or standard Remington choke tubes .... they are still in production and have been upgraded to firing 2 3/4 & 3" shells and accommodating choke tubes .... the 11-87 could handle both length shells and choke tubes from the get-go .... the barrels are not interchangeable .... it too is still in production

Re: 1100 / 11-87
I agree, both great shotguns and have owned both, though more of the 1100s. Got an 11-87 when they first came out and it never once jammed. My only complaint was the weight and that I could only go 12 gauge, at the time, instead of my preferred 20.

The wife has a 1100 .28 ga skeet shotgun. It's really nice. I'd like to shot it more often but the stock has been shortened for her and it doens't fit me well with a slip on pad.

Re: 1100 / 11-87
I had a 1100 in 12 ga back in the 70's, but ended up selling one winter to help with bills and or putting food on the table.
Oct. of last year I picked up one in 20 ga., took it to Minn. last year and again this past Oct.,
shot trap, sporting clays, and pheasant hunted. Not one hiccup, I did change the O-ring this year before I left.
Oh I downed two turkeys with it this year while up north.
Never owned a 11-87, but wouldn't mind one of those in a 20 ga. if it comes that way.
