Yesterday I sold my 50th anniversary 870 Classic Trap. I bought it a year ago and never had the heart to shoot it. It was NIB and made in 2000 for the 50th anniversary of 870's. I decided to sell it because it was just taking up room on the shelf in my gun safe. While at the LGS getting the transfer done to the new owner I looked at some of the rifles there to get look at some of the new ones that had come in since I was there last. I think a lot of the new stuff is lacking in quality of workmanship. Not all but some of it lets a lot to be desired in quality. The Henry's are as nice right now as any thing made and much better than most especially in their price range. Here is a picture of the 870. It was a fine looking gun.

That would have been very hard for me to do ....especially with that beautiful wood, Monte Carlo stock it carried!

when I worked for NC's Dept of Correction, their standard issue shotgun was an 870 .... each certified staff member had to qualify with a rifle, pistol, and shotgun .... the 870's proved to be rugged and dependable .... the ones assigned to our unit had no problem firing untold thousands of rounds per year

It is a beautiful rifle that you had.

I don't know about this one.

That is one absolutely beautiful and historic gun.

Sometimes it's time to move on, though, and let someone else treasure it.

I used the empty space on my shelf in the safe to put my rim fire "truck gun" up there. It is short and fits there perfect.
Ruger Predator 22 Magnum. 18" barrel. This is claimed to be a 1 of 500 made with the tactical bolt handle and the Ruger rail mount and the muzzle also threaded for a can. I shot it a couple weeks back and it may be the best shooting 22 Mag. I have fired. Probably going to paint the black insert green. I like this gun and I am not even a Ruger fan.
