1973 Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge
This is my 1973 Wingmaster (my birth year too). It was my Dad's and it is one of the firearms he left me when he passed away three years ago.
I killed my first deer with this gun. I saw him take a lot of squirrels and rabbits with this shotgun.
I finally took it completely apart and gave it a deep cleaning several weeks ago. I'm taking it squirrel hunting this fall. A lot of great memories with this gun.
Just wanted to share.

For the most part from what I've read, the Rem Wingmaster has had a good rep over the years. Your inherited s/g looks really nice.
Most important, it's the family connection with your Dad. That is the very best part.
Glad you have it, and hope you have a good squirrel harvest this fall.

My favorite shot gun made. Very nice condition and really nice you have a Remington that was your Dads. Never saw a 870 that late with the "corn cob" fore end. I would be willing to bet you will never replace a part in that gun the rest of the years you use it.

Great story and photos. I bought a 870 in 1968 . I think it was one of the last years without a factory recoil pad. Over the years I ended up with three barrels for it= all three major chokes. I never had to do a thing to it except keep it clean. Best one hundred and four dollars I ever spent.
