Re: A very fine Remington 870
Sounds like the neighbor/ friend got a nice one at a very fair price. Never owned a 870, all my Rem. shotguns have been the 1100's.
I do have a Browning and a Mossberg at the moment.

Wanted an 1100, but at the time I bought my 870, it is all I could afford.
Now, it's my shoulder that says NO!

Anybody remember the 870 Wingmaster in .410 bore??? I've got one with vent rib (25" BBL). It comes from the '70s and came with a mahogany stock (denser wood than walnut and added back a few ounces to the weight). I shot competitive skeet back then, sooooo, I also have its twin in an 1100 auto in 410 with the 25" bbl in "skeet". It also has the mahogany stock...They really are beauts...won't ever get rid of them...

I sure do. I had a 70s vintage 20 ga Wingmaster with a mahogany stock. Also had a 70s vintage Remington 582 22 bolt rifle with a mahogany stock.

I'll see if I can dig them out of the safe(s). Can't remember which one they're in...I'll try to get a couple of pics in the next couple days...
