Have had this .45 Colt Bisley BH for several years buying it used and like most Rugers the grips are never fitted well or centered.
Such was the case on my Bisley plus didn't like the look of the dark looking grips.

So I had an extra pair of the Ruger reddish colored grips and spent some time getting those aligned all around the grip frame.
First thing to do is remove the locating pin and drill the hole out for next larger .188 size. Then center up one grip panel
lock it in place and run the .188 drill into frame pin hole and open up the hole in grip. Do same for other panel and make up new dowel pin.

Turned out very well and I like that color grip much better.

Thanks! Yes it looks much better. I was planning on shipping it to Tyler Gun Works for custom work but decided to hold off on that project for a while.

I agree. Nicely done, forty. Yeah, Ruger doesn't exactly go out of their way to get a good fit with the grips on their single actions. Love our Ruger SAs, but our Uberti Colts put them to shame in the fit and finish department.

That makes it look a lot better. I never could understand why Colt went with the 1851 Navy grip on the S.A.A. .45. The 1860 Army grip was bigger and it seems to me would make it easier to control the 250 grain slug with 40 grains of black powder behind it. I could never shoot my Colt 7 1/2" 45 until I put a set over oversized grips on it. My Ruger Backhawk and Redhawk both have bigger grips.
